“I discussed the training schedule with the trainers in Abbottabad and I think if such a camp is organised again for a longer period of time, it will help a lot,” Inzamam said.
The two-week-long training course is scheduled to end on May 28 after which the players will be given two days of rest, he said.
“The week-long skill camp for the England tour will run from May 30 to June 5,” the chief selector said while addressing a press conference at the Pakistan Cricket Board headquarters in Lahore.
Pakistan Test opener Ahmed Shehzad and Test middle-order batsman Umar Akmal have been axed from the tour. The two have come under fire for their disciplinary issues.

Dont know anything about two middle order batsmen Asif Zakir and Akbar Rehman.

Strange to see no Babar Azam or fawad Alam. No irfan who woudl be uselful on English pitches. Only two spinners and why Khurram manzoor.

Shocking selection by Inzi.

Don't understand why Iftikhar Ahmed is selected. Not expecting much from the openers in the test series

Babar Azam should be there ahead of Asif Zakir and Akbar Rehman. Very disappointing

"Fast bowlers: Mohammad Amir, Rahat Ali, Imran Khan, Sohail Khan, Junaid Khan, Ehsan Adil, Wahab Riaz (subject to selection)"

Wahab Riaz will be selected subject to selection? Did Monk write that?

Re: Chief Selector Inzamam announces 21 probables for English Test series

Why Babar Azam? In 2016 season these were top performers:

Asif Zakir was at top, Babar probably didn’t play that season. Akbar ur Rehman also featured in top. Not sure what is happening with Fawad Alam, continuous exclusion.

Monk or not, I think it was supposed to be ‘subject to fitness’ :hmmm:

Re: Chief Selector Inzamam announces 21 probables for English Test series

Looking at the stats I would have to agree with you. Asif Zakir deserves a chance

Babar has some international experience behind him even if he hasn’t played test cricket yet

I would have him in the side at least.

Babar has been selected for Pak A, so if he does well in England, I guess he might be recalled esp. if, as is widely expected, batting fails in tests.

They are probably sticking with him in the ODI team. Realistically Babar is not going to play for Pak test team until either Misbah or Younis retires, which could still be a year away. He would have sat on the bench anyways..

And what is Iftikhar doing in this camp for test players???

Re: Chief Selector Inzamam announces 21 probables for English Test series

But both Asif and Akbar are already 32+

I actually agree with Inzamam on this.

When he became Chief Selector he announced that no player who is above the age of 30 will be selected for Pakistan A team and no player who has toured with Pakistan A four or five times will be selected for Pakistan A. This was announced as a Policy and Rule.

This is probably why both Asif Zakir & Akbar ur Rehman were not selected for Pak A but are in the skills camp. Let’s see if they’re good enough for International Cricket. Our first class is not of very high standard to say the least.

THIS

**“We have a policy that nobody above 30 will be selected for Pakistan A,” Inzamam said. “If he has a good performance in first-class cricket and we think he is a good player we will send him to Pakistan camp so that he can play for Pakistan. The whole selection committee thinks that young players who have done well in first-class cricket should be promoted. We won’t consider players who have gone on more than four-five Pakistan A tours. We will be tough on discipline.”
