Chicken Tikka Masala

I was just gonna cook chicken with some shaan masala mix and mix in some dhai while it cooks. shrugs I dont know how else to make chicken tikka masala.

Anyone have some good and tried recipes? I know some recipes call for heavy cream, but I wanted to try plain yogurt instead as it is lighter?

Please no recipes pulled off the net. I can google. Please share if you’ve tried to make this dish and how you did it.

Re: Chicken Tikka Masala

U mean butter chicken?

I've made butter chicken a few times...u can pretty much use whatever substitute u want, instead of heavy cream u can use milk, sour cream, yogurt, cottage cheese...whatever.

Re: Chicken Tikka Masala

Fry chicken till its brown . Add yogurt . Add other ingredients . Onion . Tomato . Lower the heat & its ready when chicken gets soft . :)

PCG my dad ows a restaurant and has worked as a senior chef for yearsssss now. His recipes are simply amazing but me, being a disgrace to a family of good cooks, have no interest in cooking (yet) so I have never bothered asking mom or dad for any recipes....

CTM is one of the most popular dishes among the goras but you'd be surprised to know that this particlarly recipe that dad uses is for the sweet CTM ! lol

There's cream, coconut powder, sugar n what not in this recipe.... it turns out red, creamy n gawwwjussss but ofcourse its not the real CTM that we have in india/pakistan which is super spicy n all...

I'm sure dad would know the recipe for that one too but it would be in the restaurant style, so i can tell u it won't be of any use to u.... recipes for home cooking are way different.

Hopefully, someone else can help.

Re: Chicken Tikka Masala

there are some chicken tikka masala recipes in kya pakaya/khaaya thread.

Re: Chicken Tikka Masala

My recipe:

Chicken, boneless medium pieces 1 kg
Yogurt 1 1/2 cup
Lemon juice 5 tbsp
Ginger / garlic paste 4 tsp
Black pepper powder 1/2 tsp
Garam masala powder 1 tsp
Green chillies, crushed or paste 6
Red food colour 4 pinches
Chilli powder 1 tsp
Butter, melted 3 tbsp
Salt to taste

Mix all the ingredients and marinate the chicken in this for an hour. Keep it in refrigerator.
To make the chickentikka masala, grill the tikka botis on tawa, transfer them in a pan, add some water to make a little gravy. Added thinly sliced capsicum, green chillies, cilantro and fresh ginger then cover the pan for 2-3 mins and turn off the stove.

And here's Chips6 recipe:

boneless chicken cubes....2 pounds
1 small onion finely chopped
1 tsp each of ginger and garlic paste
yogurt...1 cup
spices...salt,red chillies,zeera and coriander powder
shan tandoree masala...1 teaspoon
juice of 1 lemon

*marinate the cubed chicken in a mix of yogurt with all the regular spices and shan tandoree masala.add juice of half a lemon too and keep aside for half an hour.

*slightly fry the finely chopped onion.then add ginger and garlic to it and fry it for a minute or so...add to it the chicken plus all the yogurt marinade...Bhoonify it...when done, cover and let it simmer on low flame for a while...since it was boneless chicken cubes,it was done pretty quick.before serving squeeze the other half of the lemon and garnish with ground black peppers and cilantro....
