Re: Chicken Patties

It's a pain in the rears to make puff pastry. The best route is to purchase frozen puff pastry. If you reside in the USA, you can find it in any grocery store's freezer section. Brand name is Pepperidge Farms. $4 for two sheets and you can make about 10 per sheet.

The rest is simple, make the filling and follow the instructions on the box.

Also YouTube puff pastry.

Re: Chicken Patties

funguy so it's tat easy? just buy the frozen puff pasty and fill it inside?..do i have to bake or sth after the filling?

Thanks for ur response :-)

actually found it on recipes portal. will jsut have to modify a few things. thanks.

Yes it is as simple. You have to bake them. My wife makes them ones or twice a week for evening tea. She uses those sheets sold in the marketss. Kids love those puff pastry with chicken and qeema..

Re: Chicken Patties

If you are in the US, no big deal, liek funguy said you can buy peppridge farm pastry sheets and make these chicken patties.. I use funguy's recipe, that he posted ages ago, and it turns out great.

If you are in Pakistan, good luck with finding the pastry sheets.. I was living in Karachi and I tried every bakery, Macro, millenium mall stores etc but couldn;t find the puff pastry sheets.. I even asked the bakers at United bakery in Islamabad for the recipe of puff pastry but they acted like I was talking pushto and they couldn't understand me.. I gave up!

If you want the recipe for filling here is funguy's recipe..

1 Pepperidge Farm Puff Pastry Sheets Box : It had six folded sheets. I cut them in half to make a dozen rectangular shaped patties. Leave the box out for at least 30 minutes to thaw.

  • 1 pound chicken breast : pressure cooked for 5 minutes with half a cup water, ofcourse

The Filling: Transfered the pressure cooked chicken breast to a frying pan and smashed the breast into shredded strings. Added salt, black pepper, a spoonful of Shan Tikka Masala, Maaza chilli garlic sauce, crushed cumin, hot sauce, a tablespoon of olive oil and bhoonafy on low heat. Then turned off the burner and added two tblspns of Philly cream cheese and mix well. Added some chopped cilantro. Let the mixture cool down to room temperature.

Final Step: Pre-heat the oven to 400 F. Add a generous full tablespoon or more of filling onto a cut pastry sheet, Roll it over to give it a rectangular shape. Place it on an oiled baking tray. Repeat. Now, scramble a raw egg and apply it over the patties with a brush.

Place the tray in the oven for 15 minutes. Turn the oven off after 15 minutes. Let them rest for a few minutes and then serve with ketchup.

GTG thanks so muich for the recipe. just a quick question, when is cream cheese used because in the recipe above, there's nomention of it when to add it and where to add it.

also hwo big shud teh sheets be? i just went to grocery store i found 8 sheet packet by some brand (not pepperidge) and they were square sheets about 4 inch by 4 inch..is that a good size or shud i look for smaller/larger? also how shud the pastries be shaped? i was thinking maybe put the filling inside square and fold it over to make a triangle.

thanks so much for the help. if u haven't noticed i'm a pastry dummy :)

And good luck with finding the sheets :)

Re: Chicken Patties

Once you have the chicken ready with all the spices, turn off the stove, add 2 tbspns of cream cheese and mix-since the pan is still hot it usually melts away.

Honestly I have never used any other pastry sheet but peppridge farm so I really don’t know.. with peppridge there are 2 rectangular tri-fold sheets, cut them in half and make 12 patties.. this is what they look like:
