Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

Whenever I fry chicken nuggets or chicken strips they become very hard :(.. What could be the reason?
Any tip how make them tender?

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

How long do you fry them for? If its chicken breast I think the meat becomes more “hard” when it is over cooked. At least this is what my cooking experience tells me.

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

what PG said PLUS use less corn starch in your batter

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

I fry them a bit long, because if I fry them less they remain ‘kachay’ inside :frowning:

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

Are these the ready made chicken nuggets kinz?

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

to overcome this, boil the chicken first [not too long though] and then fry just to make the batter brown. this way, i get juicy, tender. crisp nuggets/strips! boil chicken with masalas [a pinch of chilli powder, salt to the taste].

put corn starch 1/3, all purpose flour 2/3, grounded black pepper, lemon juice to the taste, a little garlic paste] enjoy!

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

Yes the frozen one.

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

uncooked? why do you fry them? just oven them.

i make my own sometimes for my nephew and nieces…they love it…even my Bhabhi loves it! she says k **“devar ho to bas aisaa!” **

Yes they are uncooked,

Baking takes time, frying is easy. :hmmm:

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

don’t complain then lol…go for the oven method…easy and perfect!

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

What exactly are you doing?

I defrost them a bit and then fry them :hmmm:

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

Oh i just read the rest o teh posts…so they’re ready made…do you mean the outside is hard or the inside?

Make sure the oil is very hot. follow the instructions on the packet…if it says 3-5 minutes, then fry them only for that time. Majority of teh time, the meat is already cooked on the inside nad just need to be reheated

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

Dont over fry. Put in a oil that is hot but not very hot, otherwise it will burn the skin and from inside they wont be done. Try to put in medium heated oil. They should not take maximum more than 5 or 6 mins to be done. In my case i do this that put them in a medium heated oil. for 2- 3 mins let them fry on a medium flame and then i increase flame for next 1-2 mins and they are Alhumdulillah always turned out to be juicy

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

Make sure they’re fully thawed before frying. Not just for 5 minutes…properly defrost/thaw them. Make sure oil is of proper temp and fry for the amount of time directed on the package. Should be fine.

Re: Chicken nuggets/ strips Help

I have learned that if I cover the frying pan while frying chicken or nuggets etc it gets cooked properly and also doesn’t become hard.

Excellent tips by everyone ..

I think either you are overfrying them or you are frying them over extremely hot temperature as a result, it gets overcooked from the outside and undercooked from the inside ..

so adjust your heat , like S**ara **said, heat up the oil really well before adding the nuggets in , but once they are in, reduce the heat to medium. Also dont stir them immediately. Let the first side get done, then flip to the other side ..

another extremely strong tip given by Diamond. Try covering the pan while frying, that helps keep the fried stuff moist. I do that when doing Fried Chicken ..
