IngredientsServes 4800 gms Chicken (8 pieces on the bone) 1/2 cup Split Bengal gram (chana dal) 2 tsps Coriander seeds 1 tsp Aniseed (saunf) 5 Whole dried red chillies 6 Green cardamoms 3 Black cardamoms 10 Black peppercorns 10 Almonds 1/2 cup Coconut (scraped) 5 tbsps Oil 1 medium sized Onion (chopped) 6 cloves Garlic (chopped) 1/4 tsp Turmeric powder 1 cup Yogurt Salt to taste 2 tsps Rose water
MethodDry roast split Bengal gram, coriander seeds, aniseed, red chillies, green and black cardamoms, black peppercorns, almonds, scraped coconut lightly. Cool and grind to make a fine paste. Heat half the oil in a pan and sauté the chicken pieces for two to three minutes and set aside. Heat the remaining oil in another pan. Add onion and garlic and sauté till lightly browned.Add the ground paste and turmeric powder and continue to sauté for a minute or two. Add the chicken pieces and the yogurt. Add salt and stir to mix well. Cover, reduce heat and cook till done.Add rose water and remove from heat.Serve hot.
