I have noticed that chicken that we get in North America bleeds while cooking. Any tips to make sure they don’t, also what causes them to bleed (It is usually at the joints of legs and thighs and so on).
Chicken I cooked (fresh farm chicken) in the Middle east didn’t bleed.
Also some stores here sell chicken which is free range, anyone of you buy that. Is that better than regular chicken.
yh here in pak i buy fresh one. it bleeds while washing. and also i notice there is red spot or a big daag like blood clots. sometime i put it in dustbin. as blue it looked. sometime mom said no prob cook it. confuse.
^^apple blossom when I was in the Middle East I didn't have this prob because I bought the fresh farm chicken (It was from Saudi Arabia) and they kept it in refrigerator and it would expire in 3-4 days. So we used to bring it 1-2 day before for cooking same week.
But in N. America, they say it is fresh chicken but I don't think so. The chicken is big (probably hormones) and it bleeds. I don't know what to do
automne, we have the same prob in the UK. and for a long time have doubted the halalness. and now my dad is best frands with a guy who supplies chicken to butchers, restaurants, friend chicken shops etc. point of the story, we doubt it even more. not that they are selling halal when they know it's not but that the modern methods of halaling chicken are not necessarily the same as if you are doing it by hand.
yeah that is what I suspect as well. Coz In the Middle east the chicken that comes from france, brazil and china has the same issue (It is frozen) so we switched to fresh chicken which was supplied from Saudi Arabia.
I am gonna look around and see if I can find any farms which would have halal chicken which is free range and hormone free.
Just the size of the chicken legs and thighs makes me sick. We do use organic eggs, and milk now if only I could find organic meat which is halal I would be all set.
you sound just like us. we call it 'monster chicken' and my mum is always complaining how much water it holds which comes out when cooking. one of my brother's doesn't even eat chicken any more because of this.
i should point out, my dad's friend just supplies chicken they don't farm and halal it. but it just goes to show how many people it passes through before it ends up at the butchers and no one really knows where it comes from, they just take the word of the person before them.
yeah same here. Restaurants, and desi stores all have Halal label and we buy from them. Not to mention all those hormones are being passed to us.
We stopped eating at McDs and other fast food chains coz of the amount of hormones and chemicals in the food. Young pre-teen boys had breasts not to mention young girls were facing hormonal issues as well.
