Re: Chick peas
All these recipes sound so yummy, here is my simple take with potatoes (but you cook it till its totally mushy-chikkar cholay):
Fry about 1 sliced onion in oil till golden brown, add fresh crushed garlic, about 1 small spoonful. Once garlic is medium brown add 1 medium tomato chopped. Saute. Add spices - salt, red pepper, 1 spoonful coriander powder(thania), 1/3 spoonful zeera, 1/2 teaspoon haldi, 2-3 chopped green peppers(depends how spicy u like it). Add a few cloves(loang - those things that look like black pepper seeds with legs), also add some black pepper. If you want add 1/2 teaspoon garam masala. Saute it until toes cook down, bhoon it. Add 1 medium thinly sliced potato and bhoon for about 2-3 minutes. At this point add the chick peas....i use canned Goya Chick peas, use 2 cans. Saute/bhoon for another 5-6 minutes. Taste to test for spices. Add about 3 cups of water & let cook over low heat until tender and potatoes have cooked down n almost melted. NOW serve with tandoori naan and chutney of choice.
ooh add a big bunch of chopped fresh copriander to the top for garnish, can even use chopped dill.
