What kind of weather should I expect towards the end of April, just wondering what to pack/buy?
Also, please share any must-see places/events I should not miss.
Thank you!

Chicago
Where are you leaving from? Weather should be much more warmer by the end of April. Rightnow it's still fluctuating between cold snaps and some light warm weather. Can't tell yet because weathers been unpredictable. This time around last year it was like summer but rightnow you still need a winter jacket at night , gets chilly
Re: Chicago
It is usually windy and chilly in April especially early mornings and evenings. I loved every minute of my time in Chicago though. Definitely don't pack for winter and not for summer. Somewhere in between. Maybe have some light tops and cardigans. I highly doubt it will be hot. Also depends on how long you will be staying.
Re: Chicago
Thank you :)
Tea, can you share some of the things you did in Chicago?
Re: Chicago
Chicago weather is unexpectedly cold until about Mid-April/May. You should still expect to have a wind breaker/sweater/light jacket. There are tons of things to do here.
If you’re into live entertainment, there is a whole swath of Broadways that you can watch (Dearborn/LaSalle, State/Randolph—these are intersections in Downtown area). If you like something off the old beaten path, check out Chicago Reader for little Broadway joints that host shows usually closer to weekends.
If you want Shopping Galore, you definitely have to hit the Mag Mile. It is the stretch of Michigan Avenue that stretches from Washington Avenue going north. You will get your shopping fix in one go.
Remember to check out the Art Institute, John Hancock observatory ($18/person i think…and you will see the city and some bordering states). The Field Museum (has special hosting of artifects from around the world; check ahead to see what’s being hosted). Also some of the attractions lining up the lakefront include, the Buckingham Fountain (not operational during cold), Millennium Park Plaza, Grant Park (Home of Lollapalooza and Chicago Food fest during peak of summer)
If you want a cultural shock, you gotta visit north of the city. Devon Avenue between Damen Avenue and California Avenue, is mini-India/Mini-Pakistan (with other minorities).
… Enjoy your visit! ![]()
