How is it for a budding fashion designer? During our orientation, it was said we all are supposed to end up in NYC. But of the 2 cities, I found Chicago to be better. Would that hurt my career? I mean, I could stay in NYC for a few starting years, but if I plan to settle in chicago and have a career in fashion design, are my chances of being successful lowered?
err...how many chicago fashion shows do you see every year. It is a nice town..but not much of a fashion mecca.
Not a fashion mecca but depends on what you want to do. it has enough culture to meet most of your needs and if you are planning on focusing on cultural rather then just american fashion it may be great. Dont forget the winters though cause they are quite a bit harsher then NYC. Also if you really want to be famous in fashion dont limit yourself, live in one city but be free to move around. Most fashion shows occur all over the world.
