Chicago Referencing System

Can anyone tell me how to refer websites in essays? I looked up some sites on Chicago referencing system but they are incomprehensible.

I need to know whether to make a works cited list or not, and how to included something that I got off of a website in the paper (essay).

Re: Chicago Referencing System

^ depends on wha type of text is being cited and whether author information and published dates are available - e.g. blog sites.

Generally though, in your bibliography/cited references list, it’s something like:

<Insert GroupName/AuthorName>. “<Insert Title of Article / Webpage>”. <Insert Title of Website/Organization Name>. (accessed ).

For the citation in the body of the document itself, you can simply use the name of the groupname/authorname in brackets or the URL of the website if it isn’t too long.

I usually find myself giving the groupname/authorname, with a full reference in the references list, as well as a footnote on the page with the URL. This way, there’s really no ambiguity.

I would also suggest using EndNoteWeb to organize references generically by entering the appropriate information, and formatting your bibliography using any style you wish you use. It helps a lot in writing papers and articles esp. when you need to use different formatting styles like Chicago, Harvard, or APA.
