Chicago Muslim Orgs. advocating careers as a Police Officer

antibol - yes, there are community level activities going on in many places. We are beginning to organize ourselves. Our mosques does a community cleanup. I donated bundles of supplies to them. I collected from friends and family for the purpose. We have another mosque, whose imams just came from India and can’t speak English. We have a mosque whose Imam was fired for promoting women’s rights … in Tulsa, Oaklahoma.

You see, we have a mixed bag of Muslims and a lot of baggage we have to shed. You are still stuck in specific details to try to prove and put down Muslims.

The Muslims in Chicago are promoting their local police force as a venue of employment and this has nothing to do with social and charitable work. There are Muslims in my community who have given very generously to the local Rotary Club to buy wheelchairs for their project in Afghanistan. There are communities which are far more active then those I live in. But on the state level, our Muslims have achieved a few symbolic victories which carry a hugh political and psychological weight.

You want me to dig up examples Muslims charitable works that benefit local efforts then I can do that and show that we are not sitting quiet. These efforts are only increasing overtime. One good thing, alhamdolillah, that came out of 9/11 was the clamp down on Muslim charitable organizations that had been siphoning our monies overseas. The Muslims, alhamdolillah, are now forced more, comparatively, to donate to local causes. Still the monies are being diverted to those recognized by the gov’t or other means.

But any local charitable involvement is huge step for our community.
This has been my pet peeve for the last 15 years. I have been highly critical of the Islamic centers, mosques, tableeghi jamaats who have visited me over the years, who have not been acting in the spirit of Islam and the Sunnah.

Remember… Pakistanis are just like baddus. I have seen more Arabs who are in local public eye then Pakistanis. You have a perspective and I have a perspective. Both are talking from personal knowledge/experience. This discussion, so far, shows how far apart you and I are. Without any common ground between us, it is a waste of time for me to engage in constructive dialogue with you. There’s nothing I can do to affects the community based on what I want and do. I advertise the positive news that comes along to show others to show others in my community and other places what’s happening around the country in the hope that my efforts may ignite some thoughts and, as such, in a small way, I become a participant in similar undertakings in other places.

Seems like you have a mindset to put down the Muslims… for some reason you have a hangup on Pakistanis… where as I do not… we live in a community of Muslims. We are looked as a community of Muslims. Our actions are looked at as those of Muslims. We are Muslims first, Americans second… and Pakistanis, Saudis, Indians… whoever and whatever 2nd by either birth or heritage. And as such, as far as we are concerned in our communities… we are ONLY American-“Muslims”.

You can continue to focus on American-Pakistanis for whatever reason… I don’t believe you live in the U.S. but doesn’t matter.

Blame game only continues to keep you facing inward. I think it’s time we face the world and step up to the plate as Muslims.

See you around… have fun… I am now unsubscribed from this thread.

Cleanup activities are good. Still doing charity for local VFD is much more important.

M*Too logic again. While living in America you can not be a good Muslim until you are a good American. Is that too hard to understand?

The same thing is true for other places as well. Like here in Pakistan, you can not be a good Muslim until you are a good, faithful, and loyal Pakistani. You must be faithful to the place where you live or you make hijrat. Kapeesh!!
