Hello all, I’m new here. I’ve been doing extensive reading regarding chemical peels, and honestly my head is spinning. I’d like to attempt an at-home peel, and have looked into the various products offered on MUAC, but don’t know where to begin.
There are numerous different types of peels, but which is right for me? I’m 43 and the signs of aging are becoming apparent on my face. Fine lines around my eyes and mouth are starting to deepen, age spots are peeking through and I still suffer from acne-prone skin (predominantly chin). I don’t have any severe acne scaring or redness, but I suffer from mild rosacea and my skin is a combo t-zone oily and somewhat dry everywhere else.
I’d love the results of my peels to diminish wrinkles, firm and even out skin and reduce if not eliminate acne issues. I currently use a 10% glycolic AHA lotion on my face 2x per day, without any issues.
Any recommendations on which peel I should use and what strength? I’m honestly worried I’ll make the wrong decision on my own.
I had combo skin (dry patches around my mouth and cheeks and slightly oily t-zone) with no real problems of severe acne...I buy my peels from MUAC as well. I started out with the 35% glycolic and after about 4 months moved on to the 55% lactic. Both worked really well for me.
For starters just get the 1/2 oz. 40% glycolic peel from MUAC. You should also look into getting .025% cream Retin A from alldaychemist. Retin A is the BEST option when it comes to dealing with fine lines, wrinkles etc. Please do a board search here and you will find TONS of information on Retin A and chemical peels.
How are you using the glycolic lotion 2x per day? Also, what sunscreen do you use on a daily basis?
Thanks all for the responses. Went out of town and just returned to check if anyone had advice. I'll try the 40% glycolic peel and see how that goes. I'm actually purchasing some valtrex from alldaychemists since I am prone to fever blisters, so I'll pick up the Retin A while I'm there.
I use the glycolic lotion morning and evening (Alpha Hydrox brand) after I wash my face, then an Obagi moisturizer. I don't use sunscreen (yes, I know that's ill advised) but am only "outside" when commuting to and from work. I will be purchasing a sunscreen on MUAC along with my peel supplies, so will be working that into my daily skincare routine.
I'll post back after my first peel. I'm a little nervous, but will give it a go.

Personally I would NEVER use any product containing retinol, Retin A, or glycol acid during the day as it makes your skin VERY susceptible to damage. Even with sunscreen, if you're not extremely careful about applying it, in the long term these products will do more harm than good.
Underneath makeup the only things that should be applied would be moisturizer and/or sunscreen. If you have a good Vitamin C serum, that's great too. But not a product that has 10% GA in it.
