chemical peel at home

has anyone tried chemical peel at home. i got it done proffessionally couple of time but then i went online and oder one and ive been doing it at home its much lighter version but it works as same as professional does. i notice my skin is somuch brighter, smooth. has anyone else tried it at home, what kind they are using it ??

No, but would like to try. Just using gylcolic fash wash and peel pads at the moment but want something strronger. What brand are you using?

whats a chemical peel? n it makes skin brighter? what rand? what name? how to use it?

I just had a chemical peel done (at my dermatologist’s office)… and I FULLY regret it! :frowning:

I am in sooo much pain right now. I can barely talk, smile, or eat… and oh yeah, my face is RED as a tomato. Also, let’s not forget about the fact that my skin actually looks a lot worse than it did before I got the chemical (ALA) peel done.

What was I thinking?! :smilestar:

you have to give chemical peels some time and allow ur skin to recover. AFter some time when the redness goes the skin should look good I think.

im using this TCA peel 10% , its somuch cheaper to to do it home then outside... but u havve to be real careful, after u put tca peel u have to wait till couple of days to get all crispy face then it starts peeling, it takes like 5-7 days , my skin looks soo much whiter now then it use to be.

I got a professional chemical peel done about two days ago and my skin looks horrible. It’s red, dry, and I have actually got more pimples now than I did before I went in for the treatment. I called the clinic and the nurse told me that the redness, the breakouts, the dryness are all normal reactions. The peeling is supposed to last about 5-6 days… and the redness should subside within the next day or two.

My skin feels and looks awful. I am supposed to get 1-2 more treatments done BUT heck I wouldn’t dare repeat the mistake. It’s been such a grand waste of money ($450 for 1 treatment!).

To those who are curious about chemical peels and all, my advice is to NOT bother with them. Perhaps it’s a little too soon for me to make a judgment call but considering the state my skin is in right now, I couldn’t possibly recommend this procedure to anyone. :sadaf:

do you knw wat kind of peel u have gotten, and to get good result it takes after 5 peel. first week ur skin looks horrible but after that it looks real smooth and nice... you have to be real careful how strong peel ur using.

@ Cyme: I got the ALA peel done.

@ Teelobhain: Yes, the chemical peel (any kind of it) does help in reducing wrinkles and fine lines. Though, that’s not the reason I got it done. I have acne (moderate) and my dermatologist thought getting 2-3 treatments of ALA acid peel might help “heal” the acne. However, please keep in mind that the side-effects are quite severe.

or can you help me with a few more types...
should i go for a peel for my acne, i am in my early 20's or should i wait till i get married and then experiment on my skin?

i am starting as a new makeup artist here in toronto, and i specialize in makeup only, how important is it to do dupatta pin ups for bridals? what are customer expectations? suggestions please....
also would you suggest me to start with doing other makeups such as party, engagement, event etc and then doing bridals later?

Take your mom to a dermatologist for a consultation. Different skin types require different treatments. My dermatologist thought that the ALA peel would be the best treatment for my acne... however, your mom's concern is the wrinkles and fine line, perhaps the dermatologist would recommend another sort of a treatment for her. There are soooo many different procedures available:

  • Chemical peels (Beta and ALA)
  • Blu U Light
  • Microdermabrasion
  • Micro laser peel
  • IPL
  • Etc.

The consultations are usually free, so talk to your family doctor and ask if he/she can refer you guys to a good dermatologist.

Make sure u do a patch-test before any of the peels..I had a reaction to a peel I took sumtime in Jan but I do reccomend dermabraision if u have acne scars.

I had several peels done at a spa with an esthetican and recently i tried a 20% TCA peel at home and loved the results. I only did such a higher ratio because i have had these before and knew how my skin would react to it. Totally recommend peels especially for pit scarring after acne.

I'd never use a home chemical peel - the stongest I've ever done myself is a really strong glycolic acid peel - as they can go so very wrong in experienced hands. There's a very fine line between leaving the chemicals on long enough to penetrate enough layers and burning your skin which'll just cause more scarring than you initially had.

Plus they seem to hurt far more when you do it yourself, kinda like waxing. But that's just all in the head probably.

I would NEVER dare do a chemical peel at home! Chemical peels are serious stuff!

I got one done professionaly, and now just thinking about it gives me the shivers. It was a horrible experience. (And yeah, I have another appointment in two weeks! CRINGE).

What about the glycolic peel found in the drug stores?
How effective are they?
