Chemical Engineering in Pakistan

Are there any universities/colleges in Pakistan that offer Chemical Engineering? Are there any in Karachi?

Karachi mein I believe NED does

prolly Hamdard as well

I think NUST n GIKI n UET do as well among other places in pak...

did u try searching on the internet? most of these unis have websites...

Most unis of technology do. I am sure there are a few in Karachi. I can list the ones in Punjab if you want.

IMO Chemical Engineering programs in pakistan are pretty good, I know dozens and dozens of very successful graduates.

I checked NUST, NED and GIK websites and none of them has chemical engineering. Hamdard Uni has pharmacy but no chem eng.

I know UET has it, but is there anyway I can get 'into' the site, I mean they have a homepage but no internal links except for ones to some pak webs forum.

who--me, i'd be really grateful if you could list those universities in punjab....

Karachi is what I am really looking for, any info anybody?

There is a very good Chemical Engineering department in UET

BkW bro, wow I am surprised none of those places have a chem E dept. There is some Sir Syed college too in Khi for engineering. I think that might have it you could check on the net.

Are you totally +ve that NED doesnt?

I'm not that familiar with the engineering colleges scene in Khi but maybe you should post a thread in Cafe calling Karachi guppies and asking them or PM some of the Khi guppies. Here's some of them who r in Khi now and i think might know:

kashish
Aceones!
Aleezay
JonyBr
Khanzada
Lash Pash!!
monasha
P}{ä®mä©Ï§t
Simply Seema

I'd still say just double check atleast about NED coz its the biggest engineering college in khi...There's some ex NED students here too whom you could ask,

?
ATA
James_Bhaand

Good luck...

NED doesn't have it and I double checked it, Sir Syed is the closest with Bio-Medical Eng. THe real problem is that the person concerned has completed 1 year of chem eng from American University of Sharjah. They have a common eng syllabus in the first year like most American Unis. The person needs a transfer to Pak now (most prob. Khi), do you think it will be possible to get the credits transfered and not having to repeat an year? Before that, I've got to know whether there are chem eng in Pak or not...

Thanks Irem, I'll contact these guppies....

I would appreciate further help cuz its very urgent

NUST does not have chemical engineering... The closest they have would be environmental engineering... I know there is some good chemical engineering institute in Multan though, dont know the name.

How far is Jamshoro from KHI? Mehran Uni of Jamshoro has a Chem Eng. department....How good is it?Do you it will be possible to get the crdits transfered?

And one more thing, as far as I know, NED's term used to start in January, is it so? Or is it time I start the application procedure?

Jamshoro is in the same province as Karachi...in Sindh. It is next to Hyderabad, Karachi's neighbor city. However, if the person attends college in Jamshoro they will have to live in Jamshoro, it wont be possible to commute from Karachi. If the person you are talking about is female and if she is going to live in a hostel in Jamshoro though I will not recommend it at all.

I think a lot of politics goes on in these colleges so I'm not sure how safe they are.

I'm not sure about the credits issue neither do I know about how good Mehran uni is, or about NED's terms dates. Maybe you should get their number from the internet and call and ask these questions?

well, yeah, the person is a female....

It seems KHI doesn't have Chem Eng. Lahore is a very safe place for a female to live in a hostel right?

I think living alone in a hostel for a female in Lahore should be okay, preferrable if she has relatives in Lahore, but still its much better than her living in a hostel in Jamshoro if she doesnt have relatives there. You could still check Jamshoro out, pay a visit to the girls' hostel there and see how safe it is and how many girls live there in the hostels etc and then decide, but from what I hear it doesn't seem too safe for girls to be living alone in hostels there...Lahore atleast is a big city so she'll be more safe there...I've known girls who lived in the hostels for Lums and Nca in lahore and for them it was totally fine...I dont know any girls though who lived alone in the jamshoro hostels...

i think this is the general perception but you should probably still talk to more ppl and find out more about how safe the hostels are, how many girls there are in the hostels etc etc...

Thanks Irem, youv'e been a great help :)

Now I've got to see about the transfer credit problem....

Punjab university has Chemical engineering, and UET as well in lahore.

sorry but I dont know much about others.
hope it helps.

living in hostel in lahore seems fine for females, as most of the colleges and unis have girls only hostels and they are safe.
