Chemical burn after using hair removal cream

So I just tried To use Palmer’s hair removal facial cream on my upper lips and I have a huge chemical burn. Its red and itching and its clearly burned. What should I do? Put on something (like polyfax) or leave it as it is to heal on its own? I was thinking of using the cream for cheeks and chin area too after watching a lot of youtube videos of this easy method and I am not sure if I will be putting it anywhere now  what should I do? :frowning: Waxing isnt a good option cause it leaves my skin full of pimples and scars

Re: Chemical burn after using hair removal cream

do not wash with soap or put any harsh chemicals on it. Apply aloe vera gel, vitamin e pure oil and leave it, don't rub itch, or use any make up on it untill the broken skin has healed up.

Re: Chemical burn after using hair removal cream

Yikes! Like Puchi Kuchi already stated....don't put any soap or harsh chemicals on it. Apply aloe vera and/or Vitamin E oil on it and leave it alone. Keep it heavily moisturized 24/7. Give it 7-10 days. Don't rub or itch the area. If/when the area gets scabby, do not pick on it. Allow it to heal on its own.

BTW, did you do a patch test BEFORE applying it on your upper lips? How long did you leave it on for?

Re: Chemical burn after using hair removal cream

haye I did a patch test on the underside of my arm and then on a small area on my forehead. Nothing happened there. But when I used it on upperlips, there was tingling and sensation as soon as I applied. I thought thats normal. I left it for four to five minutes as they stated and BAM I have a BURN!

Re: Chemical burn after using hair removal cream

^ Wow........your upper lip must be ridiculously sensitive. My cheeks/chin area is much more sensitive than the rest of my face so I also get bad reactions there easily with products. I've never used Palmer's so can't say anything about that brand. I've always used Nair on my face.

Anyway....just keep the area super moisturized and don't touch it. See what it looks like in a few days. Good luck! :)

Re: Chemical burn after using hair removal cream

oh good to know that you've used the hair removal creams as well. Can you give me details of how you do it? Before applying it, do you wash it with something special and after removing the cream what do you put on your face? And I've noticed the all the hair do not get removed, what do you do in that case?

Re: Chemical burn after using hair removal cream

^ Yes, I’ve been using Nair for over 10 years. My sisters use it too. The only thing I get threaded is my eyebrows. If I thread the rest of my face, I get pimples. I wash my face with soap, apply the cream, and leave it on for 8-10 minutes. Then I wash it off with cold water with gentle circular motions. ALL the hair comes off. If I leave it on for less then 8…that’s when some hair gets left behind. And the cream never gives me any type of tingling sensations.

But please keep in mind that with chemical products, not everyone’s skin is the same. ProActive Acne items, and some MAC cream products gives my skin a severe reaction. Yet MANY others use it with no problem. Once the burn is healed, if you want to…you can give Nair a try. But if the area starts tingling or you get a burning sensation, take it off immediately. Below is a pic of the one I use.

I searched for nair but couldnt find it in the major stores like D.watson, so I bought Palmer's. I'll look for it again! and thanks :)
