Actually, with weapons system, the rule is normally the smaller the better. Smaller planes/ missiles require less fuel to operate and are generally more maneuverable. Smaller gunsa are easier to handle. Smaller planes have lower radar cross-sections. Ditto for smaller ships. Smaller tanks are harder to detect and hit..... and so on.
Broadly speaking, the aim in designing a weapons system or a weapons delivery platform is to pack maximum bang into minimum size.

I like the first pic, these pictures are amazing and must have been taken during an airshow. If I am right then which Airshow was that? I am planning to go to an Airshow this year as well and will post some pics as well.
