cheaper way to go to Turkey/Greece

hey guys I am trying to find cheaper way to fly to Turkey from Toronto.
Seems like flights are very expensive, around 1400. I was thinking of getting a cheap flight to London/ Manchester and then fly to Istanbul from there. Does anyone has experience of such route? thanks

Re: cheaper way to go to Turkey/Greece

have u tried websites like priceline? if your travel dates are flexible then u might want to check out their "name your own price" feature which more often than not does get you a decent cheap flight.

Re: cheaper way to go to Turkey/Greece

Thank you for the site sweet...I believe this site is only for American cities departure...I am in Toronto :(

Re: cheaper way to go to Turkey/Greece

Have you tried airtransat.ca? It's not the best of flights, but it's alright if you're looking for a budget airline. (ie. I found a flight to Athens for May for $840--including tax from Toronto.)

Alternatively, you could find a flight to London, and then fly Ryan Air.

Re: cheaper way to go to Turkey/Greece

Ryanair does not goto Turkey :(

Easyjet flies to Istanbul from London Luton
Germanwings goes to Istanbul from Cologne, Stuttgart, Berlin, Hamburg
Corendon/Transavia/Komfly goes to Istanbul from Amsterdam or Brussels

If you did an AirTransat/ Air Canada combo to Europe to get one of these airlines you would have to do an overnight in Europe as the flight times do not correspond. You would arrive in Europe after the morning flight to Istanbul has already left. Germanwings has late night flights but you would be jetlagged from transatlantic flight from Toronto plus have to change airport. Its not worth the hassle and you'd wish you had a direct connection.

$1200-$1400 seems to be the going rate from Toronto to Istanbul but I was able to get a cheap seat for $900 on Alitalia. try flyforless.ca

I am going in two weeks :)

I looked into the things just out of interest…looked up travel sites…airline sites etc. Here’s what i think…going to greece (athens mainly) is cheaper…and then from there you can take a tour of greece and turkey combined.

Or if you are willing to go to US and get things from there…i have noticed with US..you can more options for packages and flights. Here’s a sample i found:
