oh ya, my a200 chomps thru alkaline AAs real quick, if the a300 is anything like that, it'd be real useful to get a few metal hydride rechargable AAs (assuming u already didnt).
here's another macro of the AAs the fella chewed and spat.

I can't justify spending $500 on a digi P&S. .. I'm already holding my breath (and stuffing my piggy bank) for the more affordable full frame SLR's .. probably in a year or two they'd be within mortals reach.

Aah, but the G3 is not just a Point & Shoot, its pretty close to being a professional grade, with interchangeable lense, a hot-shoe for the flash and the ability to control shutter-speed and aperture.
Queer, one word for you, Rechargeable!!!!
My current S100 and the G3 have rechargeable batteries and the chargers work all over the world and it never hurts to have a spare battery just in case.

its macro-mode is amazing. i have an a60 too, but unless i use a macro lens attachment on the a60, the a200 macros turn out distinctly better.

that was one of the features high up on my list.. th eA300 has a superb macro mode.. I needed it to upload pics of stuff i sell on e-bay from time to time..

the a200 doesnt have an uncompressed mode, does the a300 have it?
Nope.. the A series probably doesn't.. all i get is a choice of superfine, Fine or Normal JPEG.
also, u dont get to use P/Av/Tv/M modes on the a200, nor is it ISO programmable. wonder if the a300 has the 800ISO and the > 1sec exposure timings.
it has an Auto (equivalent to P) mode and it has a 'Manual' mode where you can select the ISO speeds. .. it goes up to ISO400 ... the slowest shutter remains at 1 sec.. little too less than i'd wanted but you have to make some compromises.

and truly, the a10/30/40/60/70/80 are as good as cams get in their price ranges. i wuv my a60. its the poor man's SLR. muah!
I agree.. the A60 is everything the A70 is.. minus that tad bit of resolution..

i think ppl tend to overdo their MPs; the size of a pic u can get with the same quality depends on the square root of the MPs, and so with 3MPs, all you can get is a pic 1.2 times bigger than from a 2MP cam, not worth the extra dollars for me..you could have gotten the a60 instead.. i got mine for less than 200$, spend $50 on a 256MB CF card at bestbuy.
To print 4x6 at 320 dpi i optimally needed 1920x1280 which my previous 2.1MP didn't manage without PS interpolation..and at times it showed some pixellization even on a 4x6.
Nevertheless the A60 reamains a strong contender with it's faster optical zoom lens .. imaging-resource shows it has better corner sharpness... but the macro shot is way too soft for my taste...

I learnt that with my previous HP Photosmart 320.. it took four so after i ran through the supplied batteries i switched to rechargeable NiMH.. Good thing the A300 uses two instead of four... although it does chew up batteries and spits them out..

I agree.. it's got a great set of features.. Personally I'd save more and get something with a larger sensor... which leads me to my wait for the digital SLR's to drop in price a bit more.
As there are many threads regarding Digital Cameras, so I decided to post in the same thread...
Friends, I will be buying a "Digital Camera" soon. So, I thought why not to ask you guppies few questions...
Look, I am neither some professional snaps taker, nor I want to become...so, I want a digital camers with normal performances, nice look...etc.....priced b/w 100 to 150 Dollars (if some one is telling me regarding camera which is of very good quality and a bit more pricy, please list it)
To be very frank, I don`t know much about Digital cameras, apart from this that they take snaps, which you can save in your computer. And, the snaps are of better quality than those taken from normal cameras.
I also heared that they can be used as "web cams" ?
Plus, what are the other advantages and disadvantages of Digital camers, if some one can explain, along with some names of models, which comes in my range, it would be appretiated.
Waiting for you guppies nice replies...
