Each city has good & bad parts, if u compare Vienna with London, I would say London is bigger dump than Vienna since London as more worst parts than Vienna comparatively.
Vienna is very nice is beautiful city, a place that I have visited several times & yet would like to visit again & again.
I"m not saying vienna (wien) is a dump.. just a disspointment compared to the rest of austria..
UN quartier
horsieees…
the palaces Schonbrunn, Hopfburg were quite nice and the metro is very clean… i was staying near westbanhof (i think) the shopping street that leads right up to the hobfburg.. i found it tatty and not very classy at all if this is the main thrufare..
If you goto Wien I certainly recommend a daytrip to Bratislava in Slovakia.. its only an hour away but a complete contrast… little old grannies running the country coz everyone under 35 ran to the west!!!.. different landscape/architecture/history..
Bratislava was the Hungarian capital when the Turks occupied Budapest so the edge of Turkish influence

The street is Mariahilferstrasse, the upper part is quite near the "Gürtelarea", and Westbahnhof, where you stayed, which is not a very nice place/because of immigrants and red district area! The lower part of Shopping street leads to the inner district, which is a upper place!
Well Mariahilferstrasse is a cheap place to shop, with lots of shop for normal buyers, but if you want the extra class than 'Kärtnerstrasse" in the 1 district is the place
well.. there was this old guy that looked like einstein... he started talking to me and invited me back to his house to listen to classical music... i wondered why??? and found it all a bit odd..... he told me he had classical music and girls... emmm.... i dont think so!!!
