Very true.
We had a long and drawn out debate on anti-Islam propaganda and material that mocks our beloved prophet pbuh with one person ultimately asking why I was insisting that such material is used to bait our community and it’s simply used to manipulate those of us that are unable to control our tempers/emotions.
When I suggested that he think back to the times of the prophet pbuh and look to hadees related to how the messenger himself handled insults hurled at him I was cut short with the excuse that “We could never compare ourselves to huzoor s.a.w. He was a much better human than any of us could aspire to being so it is unreasonable of you to expect that kind of response to insults against him.”
Finally when this guy became completely frustrated with my theory of non-violence, he asked what it would take for me to take up arms…I told him that it would take someone barging into my home to hurt me or my family before I would take up weaponry of any sort to defend myself.
As you can well imagine, I was written off as someone with a weak imaan.
