Charles Darwin's 200th birthday.

His 200th birthday is tomorrow. English are celebrating it with much enthusiasm because he was an English gentleman. More about him at wikipedia Charles Darwin - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
His book Origin of Species was a blockbuster of the times.
You can read it here:

For long time there were two camps namely evolutionists and creationists trying to explain our presence on this earth. Now there is a third camp which believes in intelligent design. (Intelligent design - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia)

Almost all the religions believe in creation. Islam does too. But his theories gave a lot of food for thought to scientists and theologians .

awww ... how sweet .. so are we invited?

During Darwin’s time they had not seen the “Flagellum Bacteria” which throws a “Monkey Wrench”:roman into his half baked back assward Theory..

They say it would not be possible for regular looking blobs of bacterium even in 100 million years of roaming the earth to come up with by “evolution”/Evilution  the intricately designed rotating tale that the Flagellum has…check it out!

re: Charles Darwin's 200th birthday.

i dont think this forum is a good place for this thread. primarily because unlike religion, evolution is not something you can grasp without a basic knowledge of biology. and you will get a lot of people who dont understand the concept trying to discredit it with bits and pieces of cut and paste they dont have a clue on, like the above poster and his flagellum link. please move it to another forum before darwin gets abused on his 100th birthday.

Not really, as I said there are three theories and all have their strong points and weak points.
Me being a practicing Muslim have to believe in creation though. Now there are some theologians who throw the idea that who says Adam and Eve were created in their present form. So they try to wrap the creation around evolution.

For scientific refutation of Flagellum Bacteria’s irreducibility theory see the following:

queer Sahib...............Darwinism is also a "religion".............difference between it and other religions is..............others give you hope...........Darwinism is Hopeless...:)

re: Charles Darwin's 200th birthday.

well i dont think "darwinism"/evolution is a religion, because it says nothing about god (darwin himself, and his wife were devoted christians). you could make evolution to be about god if you have other agendas.

Mirch bhai, its neither the 10th nor the 100th birthday, I heard NPR saying its his 200th birthday.

re: Charles Darwin's 200th birthday.

I swear I heard 100th birthday on NPR. but you are right he was born on Feb 12, 1809. So his skeleton is 200 years old.

Perhaps it could be called a cult then.

re: Charles Darwin's 200th birthday.

mods can you fix the title please?

re: Charles Darwin's 200th birthday.

interesting

that would be odd, because evolution is mainstream science today, and not a fringe group.
