The reason why the textile industry has excelled is because theres a lot of demand for the fabric on daily basis not just for apparel but also for furnishing etc.
In the olden days there wasn’t that much of an awareness because there wasn’t any medium or any kind of television/media for the people to get to know their thing thus the value of these things wasn’t that much either.

But people were living without these things. no? It seems that consumerism hit this particular area with more intensity
