Charkha got an important place in folklore and Sufi poetry.
From Shah Hussain’s ‘Ghoom CharakhRa CharakhRa, teri kattan wali jeewe’ to ‘Sun charkhe di mithi mithi cook, mahiya menu yaad aawnda’ it formed part of many folk songs.
Charkha used to produce Khais and weaving khais was sometimes compared as weaving beautiful dreams in poetry.

How do you see this transformation of a simple and poetic process fulfilling human’s basic need into totally commercial and materialistic form?**
