There’s a lady who lives in the sub division next to me. She’s doing her residency and needs someone to drop her 3 year old daughter off to daycare (also not very far, around 6-7 minutes from her house) and then pick her back in the afternoon. I thought I might do this. How much should I charge? I would be using my car and my gas. The lady has asked me to tell her how much I want and hasn’t given any figure. Any ideas? I have an SUV btw. And it would be 5 days a week and not all the month, maybe 3 weeks a month.
Re: Charges for Pick and Drop
i just called about this yesterday , and it is $15 a week one way $20 for 2 way a week.
Re: Charges for Pick and Drop
you have to consider insurance thingy...when u used your car for transporting people to make money is considered business and you have to pay premium accordingly...i would suggest you talk to your broker before you start doing so. you have to keep legal issues in mind as well...
...it's a big responsibility so think twice before you commit. since it's a child being transported to and from school, timing is the essence. what if you for some reason can't pickup the child? who will? do u have a back up arrangement? who will look after the child before he/she is picked up by the parents.
i would say $10 one way would be reasonable. $20 a day.
Re: Charges for Pick and Drop
KKF brings up good points. Just make sure you have her sign something because anything can happen when you transport a minor.
$25-$30 per week is fine. You can just say a collective amount for the month.
Re: Charges for Pick and Drop
Thanks guys! We have agreed on $275 a month. Let's see if it works out. The kid's grandparents are home so she will stay with them before and after I pick her up. I have told the parents that I won't be driving in bad weather and she is fine with that.
