Charcoal or Gas?

Dude bought home a charcoal grill…I wanted gas because its easier to start and stop.

Ab kaun koylay light up karay, unka intizaaaar karay, etc.

He says the food tastes better on coal versus gas…is that true?

What do you have? And do you notice the difference in taste?

Re: Charcoal or Gas?

He is right about food tasting better on charcoal. You are right about the control and convenience.

We use gas grill. If we need to grill something, its never more than 25 - 30 mins from start to finish (food on the table). You cant get that quick turnaround on a charcoal grill.

Charcoal is definitely better. It gives a nice smokey flavor that gas grills can’t provide.

We have a gas grill & what I do is add smoked wood chips to my grill on the side to add smokiness to my meat. Mind you it still doesn’t compare to stuff grilled on charcoal but works for us because cleanup is easy.

My brother is big on bbq & he only uses a charcoal grill. I have noticed the best thing with charcoal is to dispose the ashes right away after every grilling session. If you get a tad bit lazy it seems like such a chore later on.

Re: Charcoal or Gas?

you can get charcoal from home depot that instantly lights up.

Charcoal all the way. The flavour is far better which for me is the point of a bbq. Otherwise i’ll use the grill in my kitchen.

Re: Charcoal or Gas?

Can you please post a link?

Bint e Naeem, what is the method of disposing ashes right away.

Re: Charcoal or Gas?

Here we have Matchlight Charcoal, lights up fairly easy and ready in 10 minutes. Also you can wad up a ball pf newspaper and use that to light up the coal quicker. Charcoal grill definitely gives better flavor.

@TLK, how do you clean your gas grill?

Re: Charcoal or Gas?

You are both right for your reasons.

I larh larh kay bought charcoal grill 4.5 years ago and each summer he grunts and stomps his feet about the duuuhan ruining his clothes/skin?!?

I though I was the girl here? :halo:

So now we have decided to buy a gas one; whenever that happens.

But I love the food on charcoal…Mmmm so good :k:

Infrared grill with smoker box for wood chips wins hands down in speed and quality of cooking, and getting the woodsy aroma without the carcinogens of charcoal.

Re: Charcoal or Gas?

Hmmm…good point.

Can’t I use wood in my charcoal grill though?

Re: Charcoal or Gas?

you can indeed. thats what I recommend actually
