I love it when I see wedding videos and the guests are behaving and the stage isn’t crowded with kids and people unnecessarily.
How are weddings in your family? Are people civilised? Can you keep things under control, ie guests trying to invade the stage and get in the way of cameras?
With us it can be either, depending on the people having the wedding. Sometimes it’s neat and tidy sometimes I just want to cringe when I see chaos on the stage.
Re: chaos or calm?
**my niece's wedding here in Canada was very organized...it was a very pleasant evening. no chaos, people behaved, kids were under their parent's control. we had activities for kids, we had hired people to look after kids...may be that was a reason why we had peace.
unfortunately, back home it's a different story. it gets as chaotic as it can get, including no-show by the qaazii and then scrambling starts to find one...lol

pleasant, organised , calm and happy alhamdulillah.
P.s, having an evening do means less kids! Also choose a weekday, in school period!
Re: chaos or calm?
As I am a Fashion and Wedding Photographer so i am sharing my own experience of weddings that Pakistani-American families are more civilized then us. Their Functions are so systematic and everything went through plans with no invasion on stages or food. So overall they are more civilized and i always love to cover their functions. Thanks
Re: chaos or calm?
I think it depends on how many people you have, with a smaller wedding you can co-ordinate everyone going on stage for photos. In my experience from the wedding guest experience, particularly if you're not close family, then there's always that uncertainty about when you should go on stage for photos with the bride and groom - at the more organised weddings, a family member of bride or groom has come over to our table and advised when we should go up for photos, and at the chaotic weddings we've just been left to stand at the side of the stage for however long it takes until we get that window of opportunity to invade the stage!

Re: chaos or calm?
Well @ innerlifestudio I’m a Creative wedding photographer in Isb so i dont know about desi american families. But what i do find annoying is that the grooms family never like getting off the stage and its freaking annoying because the girls family have to wait patiently and wait and wait. I actually had to take some group family photos without the bride and off stage because the grooms family wouldn’t budge. I had to crop the MIL out of some brides family pics.![]()
Guest photography is fine as long as it doesn’t hinder my work.Plus so many parents hand their kids a point and shoot, so they r hyper kids+toys= crazy .I’ve actually included a term in my contract stating that guest photography is allowed to certain extent only n if I don’t get the shots becuz of such hindrances/obstruction I wont be liable.![]()
So as a professional it’s annoying.
Re: chaos or calm?
The only wedding I've been old enough to be fully invovled in was my brothers and mash'Allah everything was so calm and organised. We had events in the UK and in Pak and they all went really well. I'm most proud of the last minute mehndi we had here in the UK, 60-70 people in our house with only 3 days to prepare everything. You just need everyone to keep a cool head and breathe!!!

Re: chaos or calm?
When we have had family wedding in the UK they are well organised and calm and people stay seated. My BIL wedding in Lahore recently, I was very annoyed, people especially the younger ones just wouldn't stay sat down, the hall looked lovely before guests arrived, once people arrived by the end of the evening it looked like a jungle!!!
When I am at other wedding I only go to the stage if invited to do so, and I don't like to hog the stage either. My own bros wedding at the same time as BIL was very nice and smooth event. The hall looked nice, people stayed seated and got up if asked to come to the stage. Why can't all people do this....ggrrrrrrr
