On the news I just heared that the ground personell at Heathrow Airport has suddenly gone on strike. Hundreds of flights had to be cancelled and thousands of passengers are stranded.
Does any Londoner have any update on that?

yep; the reason, 600 employees sacked for asking pay rise. those poor guys were paid £7.5 and they were asking £10/hr.

flights are British airways flights
500 people who make airline food were sacked two days ago..peopel were told that they'd have no food on long haul flights
the next day(yesterday) baggage handlers went on strick in sympathy with the sack people from the catering co
some incoming flights were diverted to other airports and others suspended
I believe some outbound flights will start at this evening.
