How many of you have made a transition from all junk food to relatively healthier meals? I am currently on Nan Kebab chips everyday, add in hot chocs biscuits crisps, 2/3 rotis and lots and lots of fizzy drinks. Needless to say i’m having nothing healthy. Now i’ve banned myself from drinking fizzy drinks n substituted that with water, i’ve also introduced one apple per day :yukh: , and i’m also giving myself a trial ban on chips for a month,…make that two…
Now i want to take out Nan Kebab Chips as my ‘lunch’ but don’t know what healthy ‘filling’ alternate to substitute it with. So what do you guys suggest? take out chips/fizzydrinks etc n then when i’m accustomed to that change continue to change my diet. I mean if i try to leave everything at once i’ll fail undoubtedly.
UFf, i’m so confused. How do you guys eat healthy??? Or if you’ve successfully changed then how how how?

uff tell me about it. Alhamdulillah i've changed my diet quite a bit, but it wasn't easy, particularly since almost everyone in my family still drinks coke :~/ i haven't had it in almost two years now. i refuse to buy chips or other 'snacks' - i'm not that crazy about apples either, actually so i like to try some other fruits, like pears, grapes, peaches, or strawberries. Prior to purchasing any food product, be sure to try and check up on the calories and grams of fat contained (as an example, i have noticed that most cookies are around 7 grams of fat which is pretty bad).
Whenever i feel hungry, i try instead to drink a glass of water (manifestly, water is not a substitute for healthy foods!). One thing i've found, DD, is that will power is critical - once you start, the first week or two will always be tougher, but stick with it and Insha'Allah you will notice that it does get easier down the road.
i sorta did this year
i eat a bit more healthy than i did b4..but the thing wid me is…i usually eat when im hungry..or else i don’t..cuz im usually looking for something “good” to eat (IM A REALLY PICKY EATER!!!).i try to eat some kind of fruit every day
1 kino a day
Do you workout? The thing that makes me eat healthy is I go to the gym 5 days a week for about 1.5hrs..by working out alot it makes me eat healthy b/c of the time and effort i put in. i dont want it to go to waste. I would cut back on the carbohydrates (i.e. the rotis, and etc). I assume fizzy drink are soda? lol well its ok to have one once in a while but maybe try drink diet? Increase your water intake to 6-8 glasses a day and try eating fruit for lunch. I always eat a fruit salad, pineapples, watermelon, etc for lunch..It takes time to change your habits, but gradually it will become a part of your diet.
The amount of weight gain in a human body is directly proportional to the health conciousness of the individual and inversely proportional to the amount of junk food consumed.
My brothers are living proof of this law…No matter WHAT they eat, and they eat SO MUCH junk food and fatty food they never gain any weight
i have changed a bit..and from time to time i do keep on adding different things.. i don't drink tea, coffee or soft drinks anyways.. so when i need a drink..i prefer drinking juices or chocolate milk..
for hunger panks..i have started keeping an apple or orange in my purse..and i do keep baby carrots and cucumber at times..and now i have added wheat crackers..to add more fibre to my diet..sometimes i do off track by eating chips or cookies or french fries..
what keeps me motivated is reading websites or articles or books on healthy eating from time to time..and threads like these :)
i strictly follow a vegetarian/fish diet when i eat out (unless its a halal place)..so i guess i have got used to eating veggie subs without cheese..veggie rice dishes..meditteranean veggie dishes and more. There are lot of chains here in canada now that list the calorie chart on the side..so when you make a choice its easier for you.
I cut out chips and fizzy drink ...last 12 days i've had neither and to be honest ..NO TEMPTATION whatsoever...and previously i used to have chips everyday (sometimes twice) and live of coke/7up...my spots as a result have started fadingggg AND a bonus is i've lost weight too...and that too in such a short space of time :)
Btw: i added in water in place of coke and snack on apples and bananas now..
Sooo easy guys..you should try it :)
Thanx again !
DiscoDuck: I think i've been eating alot of unhealthy food eveyrday, like id never have breakfast, then have a heavy load of lunch, most likely, roasted chicken or shaami kebabk on bun (2) with alot of fizzy liquid. But I think i will have to cut down on these oily food and fizzy drinks. I am looking for a healthy low calorie meal plan for 7 days a week, hopefully ill be able to stick to it, if i execute the plan properly.
