Changing the way you dress after marriage

Some people say this is a natural change whilst others say they do it for their husbands or families..

Did you? And if so in what way?

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

I stopped wearing lungi outdoors :/

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

Not really, but then I never stayed with my in laws after marriage. I continue to wear dresses, skirts, pants as I used to in college.

When we visit the in laws in India, I still wear western clothes in addition to traditional wear, but take extra care not to wear something that may make them uncomfortable.

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

Ironically, i came out of my shell after marriage thanks to my husband and the very hot climate we live in.

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

what do you mean came out of the shell??

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

^ Methinks it be the shell of apparel and attitude.

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

I swear you said something different a while ago!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

I did indeed. It was formerly the shell of clothing. But the alliteration of apparel and attitude suits me better.

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

I live with inlaws so i had to change the way i dress, and also had a baby right
after i got married - so that totallly changed my size/figure lol ..trying to get back into old clothes now

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

No.

I remember the days when certain attire and level of makeup was only reserved for married girls. Like Sari was only expected if you are married. Also hair bun was only kind of reserved for married ladies.

And people use to gallop on horses..
.. And hittites were invading the middle east with their chariots

Hail to the :ancient:

But few things never changed - like unnecessary sarcasm.

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

I imagine I'll have to stop wearing leopard spotted bikini style underwear. :(

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

both posts :rotfl:

I used to wear shakwar kameez all the time at home...only wore jeans etc when i went out anywhere. But after marriage i only wear shalwar kameez when i visit my parents lol. I loooveee lounging in PJs and shorts or whatever else. My dad is very traditional and strict in regards to what type of clothing we wore around the house and out (modest, not tight or short)..so that was the main reason for it. Now that i'm living in my own place...i dress like a hobo. :]

I changed how I dressed after I got married :-(

Begum began to accidentally damage my club outfits... And those that remained intact were curiously the ones that had become too tight anyways sigh

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

I hope you got to keep the glow sticks :naak:

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

Yes! I noticed I wear more shalwar kameez than before marriage, even though I don't live with the in-laws. My wardrobe pre-marriage used to be full of jeans, trousers and tops, with a small section of shalwar kameez folded away at the top that I'd wear for special occasions. Now it's full of shalwar kameez hanging with a small selection of Western-type clothes folded away! If my hubby absolutely had to choose he would prefer shalwar kameez but is happy with whatever I wear so I don't really know how the transition happened, nor did I ever really notice it!

Re: Changing the way you dress after marriage

Not after marriage but after having a baby yes. I really want to dress even more modestly than I did before.
