I got a friend who recently got married and is moving to usa..she want to change her surname
Does anyone know what does she have to do to change her surname

Im sure she can go through whatever procedure they have in Pakistan and change it before she gets here.
OR when she moves here, she can apply at her secretary of state's office to get a name change done. Its not hard.

If she is moving to USA now (I am assuming from Pakistan?) its easy to change name in Pakistan than in USA

Look up her state, city, and then county and find the nearest secretary of state's office. Their websites list procedures for name changes once you're married.

Like Reha said, once she moves to USA and goes to get her state ID or driving license she can take her marriage certificate with her and let them know she would like to change it. Also, same thing for the social security as well. Its really not that complicated.

no its not related, and i'm sure someone will come along and move it...but they're not ur personal servants nor are they glued to GS 24.7 like u expect them to be.
