Changing nicks...

I was curious what people’s perspective was on people changing a nick.

I’m not talking about people who use alternative ids to start fights, pump up their thread’s posts, etc BUT people decide to change their nick?

For example, jack handy maybe he got bored with being jack and become faraz…

Live and let live.

Re: Changing nicks...

Since Muzna and you consistently asking for Jack Handy Dandy then let me give you some of the common excuses one of which may apply...

1) Forgot password due to cookie settings
2) Forgot to check hotmail account for more than 3 months
3) Hotmail account has been taken away by some1 else
4) Old computer was scrapped so does the memories
5) Also, change is always good
etc.
etc.

Re: Changing nicks…

haaN, I think pinny is the infamous infoman who got pretty bad thrashing in WA by jihadis and decided to join forces under a different nick. That’s what happens when you don’t have idealogical grounds to stand on. :jhanda:

Re: Changing nicks…

i love my nick, zaroor cause i chose it…so i won’t change!:stuck_out_tongue:
but i understand that some teenagers still looking for themselves might need to change regularly their nicks:rolleyes: , or that schizophrenic hqve the need for multiple nicks:blush:

Re: Changing nicks...

I guess people could get tired of a nick.....or feel that they need a clean slate to begin with.

However, since I haven't really tried using a nick that hides my identity (except for some harmless play), I don't quite understand/appreciate people that feel the need to do so. Especially those that need all this secrecy surrounding their real identity.

What's up with that? You are who you are.....do you need to be known as someone else?

Re: Changing nicks...

Virtual Reality

Re: Changing nicks...

But isn't virtual reality all about doing things that the "real" you would like to do but can't due to other restraints?

Wouldn't you still want it to be you?

Re: Changing nicks...

I always wondered, if I made a female nick could I convince people I was a girl?

Like, if I registered "BitterLemon" and acted girly and posted lots of flower smilies, could I pass off as a cafe girl?

Re: Changing nicks...

why can't your current nick get passed off as a girl?

Re: Changing nicks...

You can still be what you want to be but exposing your identity is altogether different. You don't need to have a nick as your real name, like Muzna, if you really want to express how Muzna thinks? Why would you be concerned or interested in knowing the REAL identity anyway? After all forums like GS is a virtual reality, it exists but it doesn't, so do our nifty nicks.

Re: Changing nicks…

When I feel like girly, I change my avtar and carry on
Well, the episode of ChandBeti declaring to be a 55 years old male scared me away from here. Whether right or wrong, I dont know but I can no longer face this.
