Changing Hair Colour

Noo! Just don't bleach it, that can cause furthur grey hair.

Re: Changing Hair Colour

I used to get blonde highlights... it looked great with my skin.... but it was very damaging... so now im sticking to my natural hair color.

Don't get highlights or lowlights, have u're hair dyed in one color
[/QUOTE]

Gina are you just suggesting that for her because of her hair colour, or do you mean in general, that we should avoid highlights and just dye the whole head?

Re: Changing Hair Colour

whats the difference between dye and bleech?

Midnight I don't recommend anyone to have their hair bleached or streaked. For streaking, they will bleach sections of u're hair to strip it of it's original pigment and so the color u want (dye) penetrates the bleached section of hair. Dark hair doesn't take on dark colors so they have to bleach it =) and this process causes premature greying and white hair.

If u want change then an overall dye would be better..whatever u chose remember to keep u're hair conditioned and use products meant for colored/treated hair.

Re: Changing Hair Colour

:S

Ohh ok! Now I get it. Thanks so much Gina, whatever would we do without you!!!! I thought highlighting would be better than full hair dying because its only some hair and not it all --didnt know that they bleach the hair strands first! So my hair is medium-to-dark brown, I was thinking to dye it like dark burgundy brown, to get a bit of red tint in it, can I just dye it in one shot without the bleach, will the colour come or is my hair to dark to do that?

Re: Changing Hair Colour

Colourful Eyes, I think what she was saying was “no” in response to your question whether dying would make you get more grays, and that just dye it but dont bleach. Since you are going from brown to blackish black, you dont need to bleach it first, so you should be good to go!

Re: Changing Hair Colour

Thank you all for your responses, i'm going to go to Essensuals (Toni & Guy) on saturday, have a consultation and get my hair dyed in time for eid hopefully...

once i'v got it done...i'll post before and after pics...

:(noooooooooooo-iv just hair my hair dyed 2day-TWICE-n it was a disasta!!!Iv had lovely long blonde streaked hair for the last 3yrs now an iv always loved it as my hair always lookd nice no matter how I styled it

my roots needed doing and I had booked an appointment at my usual salon to get them done but a new hairstylist friend of mine offered to do it for free-I was abit skeptical abt the idea at first but I had seen some of her work and she seemed so confident that I agreed and canceld my appointment at the salon

so this morning i was sitting there having it done and it was al going wel until whilst dyeing I noticed that she was missing this bit out and that not coloring along my hairline so I insisted that she goes over it an she was like yeh yeh il do it don’t worry so I left her to it

I was initially expectin a few mistakes or it to be far from perfect but I wasn prepard 4wat came next…:bummer:

Well the moment of truth arrived and when I came to look in the mirror I wanted to scream but no sound cam out-it was a nitemareeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!

I had GINGER streaks instead of blonde and matching patchy bits on the sides of my parting aswel as some red/some brown hair-and my supposedly hairstylist friend was standing there just cackling away at my horrendous hair-since im such a nice person I just lafd it off so she didn feel bad but inside I wanted to cry:teary1:

Dey had to use a toner an the go all over my hair with a dark brown shade to conceal the nasty bits of hair and now im sitting here with multicolored hair(its brwn orange maroon blonde coppery burgundy cus of the previos chocol8 and blonde color I had) wishing I had never gone this morning

Sorry for the long essay guys but im just so distraught rite now cus I just dnt knw wat to do to get my beautiful blonde hair bak after all the chemicals I had put thru 2day-I gues the moral of my story is to never trust any1 but a good and well known stylist to go anywhere near ur hair-n if u hav a regular stylist STICK TO THEM
