So if you’re out and about, and you have to change ur child’s diaper…do you try to look for a bathroom? or just do it wherever you are? or try to rush home as soon as you can (if possible)?
Sometimes I browse other parenting websites and it seems like there are some parents will change a kid’s diaper right on the dining table…and they get offended if anybody else gets offended at that action
Today I saw a lady change her kid/grandkid’s diaper right at the bus stop…I mean I understand if they have to do it so that they dont’ get a diaper rash (thats’ what happens…right?)..its just something you don’t expect to see..that’s all.
Changing diaper in full public view is offensive , unless you have no choice , in that case too make sure you are using your body to hide the action.
Never saw anybody changing diaper on dining table, that is beyond disgusting , that is dumb , plain and simple.

yeah no. sitting around at a public place holding a baby with a stinky diaper is more offensive. both to people around and to the poor baby. i really don't see whats offensive about a baby being changed at a bus stop.

nothing wrong with changing a baby anywhere anytime. Make sure it remain private enough , I have seen people changing diaper in full public view. Steps can be taken to make sure that it remains as private as it can be. You can always find a private enough spot everywhere where you can change a baby's diaper.
I agree with mirch… Lets not make a show outta it ppl. Ive always managed to find a pvt spot when out with midget… Once even changed him in a forest… But in plain view at a bus stop… Cmon … No one needs to see ure kids output nor smell it… Thats a special gift for u to enjoy as the poor parent.
Im a parent too… I dont like seeing other kids getting changed in public nor do i put my son’s poo and pee as well as his pvts on an exhibit.
Whats disgusting is women changing their kids inside the holy mosque… U pray there idiots!
And once a friend thought it was ok to change her kid on our bed without putting a changing pad under the kid… I had a wonderful poo stain waiting to greet me after she had left.
Just cuz u got a kid… Doesnt suddenly give u the right to pull the “lets be a bit more tolerating and open minded” card for anything and everything.. Honestly…its not like ure handicapped
If I know I still have stuff to do then I change in private (not at the dining table) otherwise if I am going home soon, then I do it at home, besides diaper rash ther's also a question of leakage.
I wasn’t offended nor did I say it was offensive…it was just pretty unexpected that’s all… and anyways I was in the bus, looking out, so its not like it affected me in any way (maybe if I’d been sitting next to her I"d’ve been annoyed). anyways im sure the kid was enjoying the breeze for the moment
NO WAY. Like, right on the floor? not even in a bathroom?!?!?!!
That was pretty gross of your friend…I hope you were able to say something to her…
and guess what…there are parents who post all this stuff (poop) on tehir facebooks…for everyone to see. Amazing huh!
I think you should try to avoid it as much as you. Find a clean bathroom or some place private. I never leave without a changing pad. I even put changing pad in my car before I change my son's diaper. Never without a changing pad.
Now I can understand some people doing it at bus stop and in public places. Sometimes you just can't find a bathroom and you don't have a car. It really hurts me to see my son in a diaper for more than few hours. I hate it. Here in NY, I can understand why this lady changed it at a bus stop. Her trip was probably longer than the time baby can tolerate the dirty diaper. Its hot, they get rash very easily. And like Ramsha mentioned... poop going up on babies back can also be a problem if the diaper is not changed right away.
ewww... on the dining table is a def no-no unless there is on one else around.
but places like bus stop and other place i guess its ok if the baby has been crying due to the rash, but as everyone said make sure u don't make it very obvious and try to work quickly. I have a nephew, so when ever my sister is down or we are visiting her , the first things we pack are changing mat, diapers and those scented bags to throw the diaper in. Oh god these are gifts from god. There was this one time we were out and opted to change my nephew after we reached home so as to not do it at a public place, oh boy did he have a rash. It took two days to subside.
Leakage def still happens and it most def runs down the back on most occasions. Yikes, baby poop is just beyond gross sometimes lol. I cannot believe my teeny tiny cute as a button nephew can poop sooooo much.
I don't think I would change a diaper ever where people are eating! And if I needed to change in public, I'd find some sort of secluded corner. Usually I find a bathroom with a changing table if I'm out. If there isn't one, I would change her in the car.
By the way, I haven't used a changing pad in a long time, but never had any issues. We always take her to the bathroom to wash her, then have the new diaper ready to put on her right as the towel is removed.
That reminds me of a few months ago, BIL took photos of his son’s dirty diaper and dirty bottom. His wife was so outraged she deleted the photos and BIL was really annoyed.
I have never had an issue finding a changing table in US so far. When I was in Pakistan, and if I had to change her,I used to do it in the car.Once I was somewhere where there was no changing table in the restroom,I asked the receptionist and she put some sheets on a bench and made me a makeshift changing table.
Just a few weeks ago I saw a couple changing their almost 3 year old daughter in the mall...right in the center of it,the child was standing against the wall and they were changing her right there. That was so strange and malls generally have pretty nice family restrooms and changing stations all over.
Personally I dont think I would ever change a diaper in public or on a dining table..
I think it's about discretion. I used to always try to take her to a rest room that had a changing table. Sometimes though the rest rooms were disgusting in which case I looked for alternatives. Even in a restaurant, you can find a pretty discrete place, on a chair behind the table works. I've even changed my bubba in the trunk of my car but that doesn't work too well in the winter. While I reserve the right to change my kid wherever I want I also want to use common sense and be private about it as much as possible. Changing at the bus stop is absolutely acceptable if there is no other choice. Changing on a table in a fast food restaurant is disgusting and unacceptable.
