Read this with your eyes wide open, also google how much time needed for any medium scale hydro power project !

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

Typical PMLN strategy - throw truck load of money to journalists and media houses to write wishy washy stuff on CPEC to fool the public, but don't disclose any real information to the actual stakeholders.

What is the completion time for these Hydel projects? The Hydel projects are not any* ehsaan* on KPK, these hydel projects will add to the national grid and bulk of that electricity goes to Punjab. So where the industries and employment opportunities for KPK's people?

If PMLN cares so much hydel project then why did they reject Swat Hydel Project? Yes because it had PTI written all over it, and it would have been completed before 2018. PMLN - in their characteristically dirty political point scoring battle is creating a real ethnic and provisional divide in Pakistan.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

What are the prime concerns of Khatak?

Can anyone summarize them?

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

Disclose the official and legally binding agreements that define KPK's share in the CPEC.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

The problem with other provinces is that they don't believe is installing projects or improving health or education or anyother reforms...
Examples... Victims of 2005 earthquick in KPK, and victims of 2010 floods in KPK ans Sindh haven't been compensated...reason...the leadership of these provinces either consider it useless exercise or they simply eat up the funds and issue statement against Punjab and play victim...

They have been doing that and this the reason ANP got rejected by the people of KPK and PPP is left only in feudal Sindh...

To get this project controversial seems to be biggest target of the people who haven't done anything and now they just wanr to come out as nationalist...

I have been to areas in KPK where the propsed western route is...people there are exited and see it as blessing...

But i guess what is blessing for commoners is worst nightmare for the ruling class

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

The funniest part is, Americans used our existing netwrork for some 10-12 years for free and destroyed everything... Yet no one said anything...pervaiz khataks, and other were ministers in ANP.. And yet not single objection...

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

Mujhe samajh nae ati punjab main jo dhoodh ki nehrain beh rahi hain wo humain kyon nae nazar aatein?
Like education, health, industrial revolution?
industrial revolution is a factory labor worker is getting 8k to 12k per month. Health revolution is you cannot even imagine getting a good care in ANY govt hospital, one has to be lucky to get complete indoor treatment from any govt hospital. Education revolution is people are too poor to send their children to school. instead they would send their children to workshop/restaurant to get some money. Lahore is not Bahria town, old city is full of charsies and kabootar baz, no rozgar or motivation there.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

in start, they said Pakistan will get nothing, China is going to get the actual benefit. Now fighting, lolz.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

The Services and Mayo hospital are state of art, every patient gets his own room and nurse...

District Hospitals are another sucess, people get treated all the time... In Punjab, specially in Northern Punjab, the patient to doctor ratio is 2:1 respectively.

Same is about industrial development and education...every child have access to oxford and Cambridge kind of education system..

Farmers lives like kings...

In short Punjabies are born with at leasr half dozen golden spoons in their mouths....

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

Rikshaw to passenger ratio is 2:1 in Lahore. That explains how many opportunities people have in the paradise city like Lahore. This is the Lahore where money of whole pakistan has been spent, according haters/racists.

ISLAMABAD: Participants of a consultative meeting on Friday, chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif at his office, decided to form a steering committee headed by the prime minister to oversee implementation of the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project.

The meeting, which was attended by representatives from all political parties and provinces, was held to allay concerns and reservations over the construction of the economic corridor.

PM Nawaz also directed fast track implementation of the western route of the corridor, as all political parties agreed to support the project, said a statement from the PM Office.

All four chief ministers will be included in the committee, which would meet every three months to review progress on the project’s implementation. The statement added that the prime minister will personally supervise implementation of the western route of the CPEC to ensure that reservations of all political parties are addressed with consultation.

The meeting discussed the details of the project, its route and the setting up of economic zones at strategic locations.
In the meeting it was agreed that the location and setting up of the economic zones along the CPEC would be done in consultation with the provinces.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Planning and Development Minister Ahsan Iqbal said the corridor will benefit all provinces.

“The premier will head a committee comprising all four chief ministers, federal ministers and chief secretaries to oversee implementation,” he said, adding that PM Nawaz has assured the political leadership their reservations will be addressed.

Iqbal said work on the western route will be initiated after consultation with the political leadership.

Senator Mushahid Hussain Syed mirrored Iqbal’s comments, and added that the entire political spectrum had expressed support for the government in completing the mega project.

JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman said the “western route will be given top priority.”

“It will comprise four lanes and may be extended to six.”

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Pervez Khattak said PM Nawaz has assured to address “our reservations.”

He said details of the project will be shared with all stakeholders, adding that the provincial government will “extend full support to CPEC.”

Jamaat-i-Islami chief Sirajul Haq termed the meeting as “fruitful.” He said his party had forwarded their “proposals for CPEC.”

Concerns on CPEC**

The $46 billion project spearheaded by China, which is expected to transform Pakistan’s economy and benefit the entire region, created divisions among political ranks in Pakistan after it was alleged that the “original route” of the corridor had been changed.
Earlier this month, QWP chairman Aftab Ahmad Khan Sherpao said the federal government would face strong resistance if the original route of CPEC was changed.

“We appreciate and support this mega project and we want to make it a success as soon as possible. But the federal government seems to be less interested in the western route.”

KP Chief Minister Pervez Khattak had also recently warned his government won’t allow the CPEC to pass through the province if the centre denied the due share in its route to the latter.

Khattak lambasted Punjab for ‘trampling on the rights of smaller provinces’ and said everything was being manipulated to benefit the country’s largest province.

These apprehensions of political parties in Balochistan and KP rose from fears that the federal government will focus only on the eastern route, rather than the western route that mostly passes through KP and Balochistan.

But the federal government has time and again assured all parties that both routes will be developed as planned and all stakeholders will be made part of the decision making.
**

CPEC: background**

The CPEC is a 3,000-kilometer network of roads, railways and pipelines to transport oil and gas from Gwadar Port to Kashgar city, northwestern China’s Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, China Daily reports.

Proposed by Chinese Premier Li Keqiang during his visit to Pakistan in May 2013, the CPEC will act as a bridge for the new Maritime

Silk Route that envisages linking three billion people in Asia, Africa and Europe.
An official agreement on the corridor was signed between the two countries in May this year during President Xi Jinping’s historic visit to Pakistan.

A flagship project of the Belt and Road initiative as well, the CPEC intends to revive the ancient Silk Road with a focus on infrastructure, and constitutes the strategic framework of bilateral cooperation.

The project links China’s strategy to develop its western region with Pakistan’s focus on boosting its economy, including the infrastructure construction of Gwadar Port, together with some energy cooperation and investment programs.

It also involves road and railway construction including an upgrade of the 1,300-km Karakoram Highway, the highest paved international road in the world which connects China and Pakistan across the Karakoram mountains.
The CPEC will reduce China’s routes of oil and gas imports from Africa and the Middle East by thousands of kilometers, making Gwadar a potentially vital link in China’s supply chain.

Nothing being built out of Lahore or Punjab... How come two whole refineries are out of Lahore and Punjab.... Must be a conspiracy against Punjab

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

Grass is always green on the other side... :)

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

What could be worse than that in a hospital of capital city has only a few beds, patient wont get admission untill he/she is at critical stage?
Well i know you have firm believe that everything is better in Punjab than in other provinces. Aisi soch ka kuch nae ho skta.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

Kohat & Karak in KPK 've huge Oil & Gas reserves and currently large number of national/multinational E&P companies operating here but to refine this crude oil so it has to be transported to Attock Refinery (Rawalpindi), PARCO (Muzaffargarh) or in Karachi (PRL,NRL,BYCO). So they 've decided to build a refinery in Kohat.

Refinery at Gwadar will be used in future transporting fuel to China/Tajikistan. Earlier Iran & Abu Dahbi (ADNOC) also interested in this project few years back and came up with the idea of Khalifa Refinery of 400,000 bpd capacity.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

If the Hydel power projects are in KPK, then I suspect the people who work there would naturally be people who live in the province. Or are Pakhtuns not allowed to work at these hydel power plants?

Dont all new energy projects add to the NATIONAL grid, which can be accessed equally by all? Energy usage and demand would naturally be higher in places where actual people live and use that energy... Punjab is the most densely populated province.

Hydel projects take longer to build, but they last longer and the energy produced is cheaper.

Re: change the route of the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor.

You probably have no clue about vote bank of PMLN which starts from Abbottabad and goes all the way to Rahim Yar Khan. Lahore Lahore crap needs to end. My family is from Gujranwala and Sialkot area, not Lahore and these are Fortresses of PMLN. The fact is that these areas are developed, fact is that roads are already there, fact is that major population lives there and fact is that these places are peaceful that is in near future these are the only places where goods will move. Safety and security takes over driving 400 extra KM. That said, Route is fine and still connecting. This repetition of Lahore as center of every thing is only hurting Anti PMLN, as PMLN is very very Strong now, deeply rooted in areas that cover about 140 National Assembly seats so keeping a stupid rhetoric wont keep them out of Govt. 2018 will be a Sweep of PMLN as well while people will still be crying LAhore.
