OMG! Gorgeous! I loved the accessories. Everything was so…malang-glam with a bit of British raj.

Check this video on the accessories:

Re: Chanel Fashion Show...Paris meets Bombay!

Such a nice idea!

Some ppl are complaining about them not using any desi models tho..

Re: Chanel Fashion Show...Paris meets Bombay!

I saw at least 2 in there^

One in particular being Lakshmi Menon. I dont know if the other one was Pakistani or Indian.

Wow! Love it!

Re: Chanel Fashion Show…Paris meets Bombay!

Okay, one Pakistani model in the show that I know of so far.

Shanina Shaik:

She was also on the Australian version of ANTM.

Check this article on Models.com! ttp://models.com/feed/?p=28587

It mentions the usage of both Indian AND Pakistani models (obviously Karl knows his stuff and knows knows Indian and Pakistan make up South Asia which is what his inspiration came from. YAY!) :stuck_out_tongue:

Re: Chanel Fashion Show...Paris meets Bombay!

^Wow.. thanks for posting

I'd just come across comments from readers on various newspaper sites and blogs who'd said what a shame there were apparently no Indian/Pakistani models.. Would have been helpful if more of the western media had included a snapshot of a brown model or two..

Re: Chanel Fashion Show...Paris meets Bombay!

OMG I was gonna post this! (and blog it too!) I love karl lagerfield's stuff and this is just brilliant, I really think he's got something here

Re: Chanel Fashion Show...Paris meets Bombay!

Magnificent display.

I simply loved the accessories but as usual the over the top props and settings are the only thing that holds up the collection. The clothes are mediocre and they're very similar to his previous winter collection. I think without a good or similar styling. the clothes will fall pretty flat in real life, which has been the case with some of the most recent Chanel collections. I was hoping for a fairly dramatic and more distinct evidence of Indian influence in his clothes....but the wonderful accessories kinda made up for that aspect as far as the runway is concerned.

Re: Chanel Fashion Show…Paris meets Bombay!

Shanina’s mother is of Lithuanian and Australian heritage, while her father has Pakistani and Saudi Arabian roots. she’s gorgeous but she is majorly mixed though with 3 other ethnic groups mixed in along with her father being half pakistani.

Re: Chanel Fashion Show...Paris meets Bombay!

^Yeah but Karl/Chanel specifically went for South Asian models (Pakistani AND Indian). A lot of people were saying this should have bought Yasmeen Ghari out of retirement, lol

Re: Chanel Fashion Show…Paris meets Bombay!

WOW! I think i want some of the footwear, especially the flat sandal types, gorgeous! And i loved the jewelry, the head pieces were just

Re: Chanel Fashion Show...Paris meets Bombay!

i loved some of the outfits. the jewellery is really nice too. Frieda Pinto and Sonam Kapoor were also at this show.

I'm glad it wasnt the typical bollywood gawdy and blingy stuff.

Re: Chanel Fashion Show…Paris meets Bombay!

Hermes is also selling Saris in India

Its good to see western designers branching out.

Re: Chanel Fashion Show...Paris meets Bombay!

Very nice show, thanks for sharing.

Do you think the tikka would ever be popular in the West among non-desi's?

Re: Chanel Fashion Show…Paris meets Bombay!

i saw a photo of someone (i think a model) wearing a tikka headpiece at the MET Gala. loved it!

oh found her pic:
