Champions Trophy - Pakistan v Australia - Sep. 30, 09

Re: Champions Trophy - Pakistan v Australia - Sep. 30, 09

New Zealand haven't lost at Johannesburg yet and we had a dickens of a time against WI so I'd say NZ are favorites

Re: Champions Trophy - Pakistan v Australia - Sep. 30, 09

Did anyone notice that the 4 semifinalists are the same as 1992 world cup. Moreover like in 1992, Australia is playing England, while Pakistan take on New Zealand. If it is a repeat, expect Pakistan to lift the cup...."

Re: Champions Trophy - Pakistan v Australia - Sep. 30, 09

^hmmmmmmmmmm :hmmm:

Correction, its not the same as 92 WC. It was south africa, in place of australia in 1992.

NZ - Pak Semi on Oct 3, Saturday...may end up in D/L method due to forecasted showers...hmmmmmmmm

But Aus - Eng semi on Oct 2, Friday could be severely effected by rain...so another D/L victim...lol

1992 semi finalists were pakistam, New Zealand, South Africa and England

so who will dropped on saturday. is it going to be gul?

looks like a Bush’s Twin brother

Re: Champions Trophy - Pakistan v Australia - Sep. 30, 09

Did anyone hear Sanjay Manjrekar saying Pakistan stand at number 3 of the teams who have the chances of winning the trophy

So did he put Pak ahead of NZ? with (1) Aus, and (2) ENG?

I would agree with that to some extent from a pessimistic point of view -
and I would vehemently disagree if I take the passion driven paki fan view

yup saw that.

Poor guy was trying not to look too dejected. He also said that since Pakistan already qualified for the semi final therefore they were not trying their best and wer kind of relax during the game and this is the nature of Pakistan that they take things lightly.

Spot on Sanjay, but being a commentator you were not looking too neutral saying all that.

Re: Champions Trophy - Pakistan v Australia - Sep. 30, 09

^ Can you blame him though? he is a sore loser. It's gonna time to heal the wounds.

The predictions of these so called gurus of the game are not worth the media they are mentioned on. Not one guy gave Pakistan a chance to win 20/20. OK it was expected but even now they were predicting SA, SL, India and Aus to go through. Getting 3 out of 4 wrong just goes to show that the Ian chappels and Sanjay Manjrekars of this world know jack all.

Re: Champions Trophy - Pakistan v Australia - Sep. 30, 09

How fascinating was that? It was reminiscent of Wasim Waqar Era when Our bowlers would give shudders to opposing teams and almost defend a modest total after a seemingly lost match. Amazing performance from Asif, Ajmal and Naveed ul Hassan. The ease with which Naveed sent yorker after yorker was amazing!

After a loooonggg while, I feel proud even despite losing! (and no, its not because India was kicked out as a result:) ). I soooo wanted aussies to be defeated cause our records against them sucks.

I dont think any of the three bowlers deserved to be dropped today. Asif and Rana were excellent in their second spells and Gul was really good in his first. Aamer is an excellent bowler but I personally would like to see today’s trio in action.

Re: Champions Trophy - Pakistan v Australia - Sep. 30, 09

With all due respect I think Rana is over hyped and nowhere near as good ro effective as the other three. Rana just had a good day.

now lets not get into Rashid/Moin and Butt type arguments of past. :)

how can you call him overhyped when he is most effective bowler you have for the death overs? Even Asif cannot be that effective because of his inability to bowl yorkers.

Ehsan bhai, it is kinda unfair to Rana if he isnt given credit for his performances since his come back from ICL. Specially his death bowling his much more consistent with his yorkers. Aamer is one of the best finds of late but he isnt a finished article and would love to see him mastering the arts of death bowling.

Its really a pleasant situation to be in but I do not think Rana is overhyped at all. He has always been quite good in death overs.

I am not convinced. For me the semi attack should be Aamir, Asif, Gul, Afridi and Ajmal.

I respect your views.
