Monstar, when people see Pakistans hockey team performing the way the cricket team has performand over some years now (some success stories there and then), every one will start loving hockey again. Same goes for Squash, but we lag talents like the Khans and others among Hockey Players nowadays. Now interest has shifted to Cricket.
Time, time ki baat hoti hai.
Hope we do much better in Hockey again, phir dekhna Hockey threads will out number Cricket once :)

This is a totally inexperienced team. Rehan Butt has been dropped and there isnt any player who could spark them into life with individual brilliance.
Not sure how can they pick themselves up but this is a comparatively long CT and there is room to bounce back.

Big defeat for Pakistan! Lost 2-5! And three points.
We will never be a force again in hockey for sure. Can't expect too much from a team that even struggles to beat Belgium, Canada, NZ, Argentina, China, Japan....and the list goes on and on
I mean atleast 5 teams are clearly better than us.
Australia
Holland
Germany
Spain &
Korea
Against India and Britain you can expect us to win some and lose some. So realistically the best we can hope for is 6th position in world rankings!

This is only a wishfull thinking. Pakistan hockey is bound to decline further for following reasons:
No more hockey players! Club hockey from Karachi has virtually disappeared. And things are also not promising elsewhere in the country.
Lack of facilities
Pak players are not that much fit and healthy as are the Europeans, Australians and Argentinans. And artificial turf hockey requires 100% fitness.

Against India and Britain you can expect us to win some and lose some. So realistically the best we can hope for is 6th position in world rankings!
India is not playing. Host Malaysia is there. They can easily beat us these days.

and I can say the same about another hockey nursery.. Gojra... and its adjoining areas.. and hockey has been sooo much reduced..
I used to see grounds full of hockey players in the evenings and now its all deserted...

Yes indeed! Gojra is the place wherefrom great hockey players emerged. That used to be the most valuable nursery.
