Do-or-die situation for India but crucial for both teams.
Australia and India seem to play each other so often that it’s hard to believe they haven’t met in an ODI for 18 months, when India wrapped up the CB Series at the Gabba.
India have won four of eight ODIs they’ve played in Centurion; Australia have won four of seven. Both teams have lost their past two one-dayers there
Not since 2003 have India won a one-day international in South Africa; in the meantime they’ve lost six
The last time these teams met at Centurion, India were walloped by nine wickets, during the 2003 World Cup
Pakistan - 2 matches - 4 pts - RR +1.606
Australia - 1 match - 2 pts - RR +1.000
India - 1 match - 0 pts - RR -1.080
Re: Champions Trophy - Australia v India - Sep. 28, 09
If Australia wins, it's over for India. Pakistan and Australia go to the semis.
If India wins, it could be trouble for Pakistan because they would have to win against Australia on Wednesday, otherwise it could come down to run-rate and Pakistan could possible miss out on the semi-finals.
^ Pakistan's net RR is quite good though. So unless they lose badly against Australia they should still qualify
Must not rely on favours from others at this level, Pakistan should try and beat Australia who are formidable but not insuperable
Best chance for India to sneak into the semis. Beat a tired and uninterested Australian team on a slow pitch and then try to win by a huge margin against west indies.
