Champions Trophy 2nd Semi-Final: Pakistan v New Zealand - Saturday Oct 3, 2009

yar he didnt set the field good even once today
he cant bat for **** , he bats a good innings and then cant bat for the next 10 matches,

i'd prefer a more aggressive captain i.e shahid afridi

The openers still gave us a decent start (46). So one can't really fault Imran Nazir today. What is the guarantee there that if Shoaib Malik had opened the innings with Akmal he would have scored more than Nazir's 28. Malik usu. fails on seaming pitches (even Kamran Akmal has a better technique than him on such tracks) and really only delivers against India.

In the present team I w'd back only the two Y's and the two Akmals to survive on such tracks. The rest are just not good enough IMO. I know Younis has not been in good form lately (the finger injury perhaps did not help matters) but I w'd still back him to score more runs on seaming pitches and against good pacers than Malik.

All in all a very disappointing batting performance AGAIN. 233 was very poor. NZ got home comfortably in the end with 2.1 overs to spare. With the batting powerplay still to come we needed to push the RRR to 9+ RPO but that obviously was not easy given our paltry total. Even Asif might have come in for some stick in the batting powerplay.

I agree though that Rana for Asif was a bad decision

I do not second that at this point. Pakistan's batting is just too unpredicatble, inconsistent and erratic and that is always going to be a problem in important games such as SF and Final

Well played team Pakistan in the tournament. It was great performance all the way to semis.

We are proud of you! Lets improve our batting and look to the future...
There is room for improvement in bowling is also required (no balls, free hits!).
Lets work on fielding...

And the loss is esp. disappointing given that NZ were missing key players esp. Ryder because of injury.

Right on the money..

Ultimately, though, it will be the batting that will have to take the blame, 233 was just not good enough on a pitch with nothing in it for the bowlers.

Actually NZ can win you the match with their fielding alone, :)

And given that we have beaten them so often in semis and ohterwise, its ok to let them win one.

On the brighter side, I would have hated to lose against those arrogant australians in final.

After Younis dropped a sitter match was over! I still can't believe he dropped that dolly of a catch! I guess it happens!...but mind boggling to see an international cricketer dropping that kind of a catch! we deserved to lose after that dropped catch!

Why do we suck at batting? I really dont get it. time and time again we have been let down by our batsmen, yet we see no improvement. Only once in a freakin blue moon do we see a good batting performance from our team.

And why did Younis Khan have the bright idea of bringing back Rana during power play? And why were all of Aamir’s overs used up prematurely?

Dont even get me started on that dropped catch!

ufff soo upset after this loss.

btw, I have never seen Aamir before this tournament, since I dont follow cricket that regularly, but I really like this kid :k:

specially to Pak fans for losing match to New Zealand, so better team won and the weaker players are out of the tournament :hehe:
