Champion's League's best XI

The champion’s league is drawing to a spectacular close. Only two more match to be played this season.

Let’s compile your best/favorite starting eleven plus coach of this season.

Here’s mine:

Tactics: 3-4-3

Coach:
Hiddink - PSV

Keeper:
Gomes - PSV
Outstanding all season. Saved couple of penalties in the shoot-out against Lyon and made crucial saves against Milan to keep PSV in the race.

Defenders:
Cafu - Milan
Seems to get better and better. His crosses are near perfect as ManU found out twice.

Terry - Chelsea
The formidable rock in the heart of the defense. His tackling is perhaps the best in the world.

Hyppia - Already showed he was capable of handling Zlatan, the technical player, while scoring the crucial first goal against Juve. Then against Drogba he demonstrated that against power he is even harder to break.

Midfielders:
Lampard - Chelsea
The driving force in the chelsea-midfield. Almost all attacks go via him. Crucial in defence and indispensible in attack. Chelsea without Lampard would be a mediocre team.

Van Bommel - PSV
For several seasons he has been showing his qualities. this year he is the most important player for PSV together with Cocu. This earned him his long-awaited contract with Barcelona.

Essien - Lyon
Came out of nowhere to show how good he really is. His swiftness with the ball has left many defenders toiling. Numerous assists and plenty of goals were the result. Many big clubs are after his signature.

Ronaldinho - Barcelona
The first goal against Chelsea sums up the class of this man. Potentially the only player to come close to Zidane when he was in prime form. Classy, technical and always this aura of pleasure surrounding him. He is a delight to watch!

Forwards:
Shevchenko - Milan
what is there left to say about this man? Scores when he is needed, scores when he is not needed - he just scores. Lethal in front of goal and ideal runner in counter-attacks. The complete striker!

Van Nistelrooij - ManU
Even if his teammates don’t perform, Van the Man is always guarentee for plenty of goals. Despite only playing in 8 CL-matches this season, he still is top-scorer with 8. Only Sheva (6) can overtake him. Second behind Raul in the all-time goal scorers chart of the CL, but his average is by far the best

Crespo - Milan
After a disastrous season at Chelsea he has come alive again in Milan. Together with Sheva he is threat to any defence. Destroyed ManU twice single-handedly.

Players to have missed out:
Cech, Buffon, Kaka, Luis Garcia, Gerrard, Zlatan, Makaay, Maldini, Cocu, Park

GK - Cech (Chelsea)

RB - Cafu (AC Milan)

CB - Stam (AC Milan)

CB - Terry (Chelsea)

LB - Heinze (Man Utd)

Re: Champion's League's best XI

^looks like a good squad. I'm quite surprised by Heinze though?

Re: Champion's League's best XI

^ He HAD to include a MU player :D

I would not include Ruud. Yes he has scored goals but he didnt score when he was needed the most. plus he scored four of those goals in a meaningless match against prague.

Re: Champion's League's best XI

All 11 from Milan.

i-e.
----------------Dida--------------------
Cafu-- Nesta--- Stam--- Maldini (c)
----------------Pirlo-------------------
-----Gattuso --------Seedorf-------
----------------Kaka------------------
--Shevchenko--- Crespo/Inzaghi-

Re: Champion's League's best XI

^oh come on, at least Lampard and Ronaldinho HAVE to be in there. I'd prefer Lampard over Seedorf anytime. And ronaldinho over Crespo.

and how come Inzaghi? He has played like only 2 CL matches this season....

Re: Champion's League's best XI

^ Nescio this is called obsession :D

Re: Champion's League's best XI

Coach: Rafael Benitez

Tactics 4-3-3

Keeper : Buffon

Defenders: Terry, Hyppia, Cafu, Gallas

Midfielders: Van Bommel, Lampard, Essien

Forwards: Shevchenko, Adriano, Luis Garcia

I wanted to include Robben but to be honest he didnt play after the group stages so he is out.

Re: Champion's League's best XI

^good team. Am only surprised at Gallas. I don't think he's a good player. I've seen him play quite a few times for France and Chelsea, and it says enough that the opposition usually leave him unmarked and give him a lot of room for build-up, which he fails at time and time again. With respect to defending too I think he's too slow

Re: Champion's League's best XI

Gallas has been playing as a left back even when he is not his preferred position and he did really well against the likes of Barca and Munich. I couldnt think of any other left back at the time of writing. Maybe Zambrotta is another one that I can think of.
