Champions League 2005-2006

Re: Champions League 2005-2006

no, the official ruling says that in case of a foul (which is worthy of a red-card) the referee should give advantage to the fouled team, if there is any advantage (and in this case there was). In case he does that, the goal will be allowed, but the player should not have been sent off.

Re: Champions League 2005-2006

Correct.

I know the bloody referee spoilt the game but this is not Barcelona's fault.

Anyway congulations to Barcelona who I felt have been the best and excisting team to watch this year in Europe and deserved to win the cup.

Re: Champions League 2005-2006

a poorly played match with individual performances...on the top of it poor referee-ing..

players who were outstanding were Ebou,Toure and Campbell for arsenal and Henrik Larssen and Samuel Eto for barca..

Toure has developed into a very formidable defender - absence of Campbell has propped him into spotlight and he has grabbed it with both hands...

Dinho and Henry disappointed...Barca deserved it because they had a fantastic run to the finale....

Re: Champions League 2005-2006

I know that but my point was that technically the decision was right that he fouled Etoo with one intention only. But he should have played the advantage which he sadly didnt albeit the ball travelled to Giuly really slowly and by then he blew up the whistle.

anyways point is barca were the worthy winners througout the campaign. IT was said that whoever wins the Barca-Chelsea showdown will win CL and it happened

Re: Champions League 2005-2006

here in the UK its been nonstop referee bashing by all, some justified most of it biast crap, either way arsenal were done for once that foul was made, either 10 men or 1 down, hard luck...

no one is talking about the wrong decision that referee made when giving eboue the freekick from which campbell scored... if he got that right eboue would have 2nd yellow and early shower, and the gunners would b down to 9 players!!

arsenal deserve credit for the way they managed to hold out for 70+ish minutes but once barca scored it was all over, im just glad that dont have to listen to any gloating from the new-born arsenal fans around my area,

shame henry didnt put his chances away, week in week out i see him in premiership eat those chances up but at the top stage he couldnt .. will give his critics plenty of ammunition!! also looks like he might be staying after all...

Re: Champions League 2005-2006

Yes you are right. Honestly likes of Wenger & some in the Britihs media make him to be the best player in the world. Best overall player or best striker? I don't think either to be honest with you - I think there are guys like Shevchenko (AC Milan) & Eto with 30+ goals in La Liga are much better then him. He struggles especially when he plays for France and hasn't performed to the standard expected of him. So do you think he is as good as people make him to be?
