Barcelona beat AC Milan 2-1 in a great match of football. Ronaldinho' deciding goal two minutes from time was a scorcher. Arsenal held to a 1-1 draw at highbury to Greek side panathinakos and chelsea is the first team through to the knockout round. Valencia is almost out with another disappointing showing, Ranieri has totally lost it. Eight games without a win in all competitions.
Tuesday's Results

Juve all the way!!!!
Cant get anything past Buffon these days. And what about that turn by Ibrahimovic to get past two Bayern defenders. Bhai maza ah gya
^ Yeah i saw that. Good skills by Ibrahamovich but the way Oliver Kahn spilled the ball was ridiculous. He is one over rated keeper. But Buffon is not over rated by any means :k:
Ruud scored four goals against sparta praha. They are almost through as well! Roma is out after a draw with Bayer Leverkusen, sad indeed because they have quality players. Real Madrid drew away from home after coming back from two goal deficit in Kiev
Yesterdays scores
ManU 4 - 1 Sparta praha
Lyon 4 - 2 Febernache
Liverpool 1 - 0 Deportivo
Olympiakos 1 - 0 As Monaco
Maccabi 2 - 1 Ajax
Juventas 1 - 0 Bayern Munich
Real Madrid 2 - 2 Dinamo Kiev
Bayer Leverkusen 1 - 1 As Roma
Hear, hear! I crashed my head against the ceiling on that one! i tell you, if Barça hadn’t won that game, i would have given up soccer altogether - the touch he made to set up that goal…wow - and the assist he had on Eco’o goal was sweet also.
Real Madrid are still not sure of progressing to the next round of champions league after drawing with Leverkusen at home. Figo missed a penalty to clinch it for them but th way he produced the goal for Real was awesome. Now Real must beat Roma away from home to progress, a draw could be enough too provided Dynamo Kiev beat Leverkusen away. Surely turned out to be the toughest group.
Juve maintained another clean sheet with yet another 1-0 win (their fifth in a row) against Ajax which are effectively out of CL. Bayern is almost through as well with a 5-1 thrashing of Maccabi Tel Aviv.
ManU are through beating Lyon 2-1 but Liverpool must beat Olympiakos at home to progress.
Juventus 1 -0 Ajax
Bayern Munich 5 - 1 Maccabi Tel-Aviv
Sparta Praha 0 - 1 Fenerbahçe
Manchester United 2 - 1 Olympique Lyonnais
Olympiacos 1 - 0 Deportivo
AS Monaco 1 - 0 Liverpool
Real Madrid 1 - 1 Bayer Leverkusen
Dynamo Kiev 2 - 0 Roma
Dude, dont be surprised if you see Chelsea in the final. They can keep clean sheets consistently and so can Juve. That is the reason why Arsenal dont do well in Europe generally, because they concede too many goals. Juve and Chelsea got plenty of attacking flair with absolute concrete defences.
Match day 6 has seen departure of Valencia at the hands of Werder Breman and that too at home. They needed to win but they lost badly.
Porto are through after a late late goal against Chelsea. Jose Morinho will be a tad bit bothered by a rare loss and that against his former club but Porto who had no hope after first three matches are finally through.
Arsenal are comfortably qualified after beating Rosenberg at home. Barcelona fielded an under-strength side and that was comfortably beaten by Shakhtar, Barca's bench strength is not that impressive when compared with Chelsea, Manchestar United or even Real Madrid.
Tonight's results:
Porto 2 - 1 Chelsea
CSKA Moscow 3 - 1 PSG
Arsenal 5 - 1 Rosenberg
Panathinaikos 4 - 1 PSV
Inter 3 - 0 Anderlacht
Werder Breman 2 - 0 Valencia
Shakhtar 2 - 0 Barcelona
Celtic 0 - 0 AC Milan
Tomorrow Real will face a do-or-die match against Roma in empty stadium. Liverpool need to win against Olympiakos with a two goal margin.
Incredible Champions League night when Liverpool scored three second half goal that would put them through to the next round and they did. The last goal from Gerrard four minutes from time was an absolute rocket !!
Real needed to win tonight and they made it stroll in the park by beating AS Roma comfortably. Dinamo Kiev must be heart broken after they were top of the group before this match and finished third after losing to Leverkusen.
It means that there are four english football teams in last sixteen for the first time. Three German, three italian and two french teams made it to the second round along with one portuguese and one dutch side. It means that english teams might clash with each other in knockout stages. Italians and Spanish sides will avoid facing their compatriots because Italians finished top of their groups and spanish sides finishes second.

Not quite saby, in the last sixteen teams cant play against a team from the same country (as well as the team that was in their group). That doesnt happen till quater finals where anyone can play anyone.
So Man Utd who finished second behind Lyon can only be drawn against group winners, i.e. Juventus, Inter, Milan, Monaco, Bayer and cant play Lyon, Arsenal, Chelsea.

oh okay. I think I had last years quarter final b/w Chelsea and Arsenal in mind when I was writing this. Now confusion rmoved and this means we have some mouth watering encounters coming up.
Chelsea-Barca, Real-Juve and ManU-Milan matches are really mouth watering and to say that they will be great to watch is an understatement. This knockout stage is going to be a blast!
