okay, on a second note, perhaps ehsan bhai is right because no matter how long that leap was (the ports one), it failed in the end. But was that a measure of their 'long term strategic thinking' ? Now, thats the question.
With Iraq facing a deadly sectarian strife, Lebanon in the grips of a civil war, tensions building in Syria, Afghanistan gone to dogs and Iran stoking the fires; this emirate remains the only stable area in the entire region. Perhaps this is another step towards the greater middle east initiative (it also gives cradence to that Empire theory :o) and if one takes a historical view along the lines that ehsan bhai referred to, then yes, these multinationals are but modern day version of the east india company.

worst part is knowledge is not transfered yet the wealth of the region is!!! Dubai's Economy tu my view is consumer economy, they dont actually produce any thing which can be exported.
