I have been thinking a lot about how the world and its ways have changed so quickly in the past 15 years. For us , we are the generation that has witnessed the beginning of this change. A lot many of us are even struggling to continue to remain up to date in as many ways as possible.
What kind of changes do you anticipate over the next couple of years , that our future generation will encounter?
My husband thinks flying cars and electric cars will be in vogue in the next 20 years
I agree with CoughCough. Flying cars done only pose a technological challenge, they pose an higher degree of logistic challenges.
I see a greater level of disadvantage as we technologically advance. We are needing less and less human interaction. I dont remember last time when I went to a cashier at bank, as I deposit my checks and take my cash out through ATM. In fact from last 8 years, my credit union in not even in my city but it is still my primary bank. Same with travel agents. The whole breed of domestic travel agents vanished in front of our eyes as sites like Travelocity, Expedia and Kayak came along. Another breed is door-to-door salesman that is gone.
Not just at professional level, but at social level, Facebook like sites have taken care of our social needs to some level and we would rather chat with our friends online than to go and visit them.
electric cars? err.. i think you might be a few years late on that one. a whole bunch of teslas on the roads here, elon musk has firmly placed electric cars on the road. not that i see how electric cars qualify as a challenge by any means..
here are my three big ones for the next 20-30 years
climate change and associated secondary changes that will disrupt many a nation’s livelihoods
change in world order - the slow ascension of the hardworking godless chinese zombies, the end of western europe, end of oil monarchies
people living longer thanks to medical advances, but not necessarily healthier, people who would need caring for from a generation who can barely find time or wealth to care for themselves and their children
…& I count it as a negative point..
Human interaction should not be quit entirely but the recent technology (where making things easy for us…on the other hand) is resulting in less interaction with people around.
I think there will be a much greater divide between the rich and poor.. and a much bigger gap in terms of access to higher education, quality healthcare etc.
-morality, as we know, will go down the tube
-human contacts will diminish due to technology
-people will be more home-bound, happy in their cyberspace
-nuclear families will be a norm
-religious, political, economical divide will increase, the gap will widen
-less traffic on roads because more N more people will work from home
-stores will probably disappear because people will shop online
-marriage will be a thing of the past
-computers will not have any hardware
-Asia will emerge as economic giant
-USA will be reduced to a mercenary force
-India’s and China’s population will cross 2 billion
-men will have to pay dowry to get married because women will earn more than men and will rule the world.
I would like to add … that we are moving more and more towards a global robotic police state … Virtual Reality will be taken in to the realms of odour and sensation perception to the masses … and cities will start to be planned with bridging tunnels at higher altitudes - so roads and paths will be utilising 3D space. Before flying cars we are going to have capsules that traverse 3D space in long tube tunnels … and it may be possible for people to live on Level 9 all their lives only going up to Level 13 and in between every now and again … Roads will have to become magnetic glass like chambers in order for 3D motion to be experienced as aggregate concrete roads will be too heavy and true flight will be impossible to control in such confined spaces. I can imagine pedestrianised locations and malls at higher levels bridging the several sky scrapers to make it seem like the ground level … The only problem with this scenario is light … as for the lower levels it will push them in to perpetual darkness - so they are likely to become slums, casino and clubby, brothel-like neighbourhoods … But that is not 2 years away … That is more like 20 to 35 years away at least.
The immediate problem could be technological disasters and it is likely that some real ethical issues will be arising soon in the media.
lol…that was back then and it was indeed a RUMOR…this time around, it’s for REAL! i’ve a "LEAKED’ document with me from the **US Department of Secrecy!
