If I am not wrong you will not find these 'qul', 'daswa' , chaliswaan barsi etc in other parts of the world. these are very specific to sub-continent. Actually, if you observe hindu customs, you will find a lot of similar customs there.
During shab-e-braat, people celebrate it with fireworks and crackers. I often wondered what is the origin of this bidda. When I got to know about diwali (deepawali), I quickly got my answer.

On one hand, we keep on saying that our religion is complete and no one can add or subtract from it but on the other hand we say 'so what if we do such and such things'. There is difference between biddat and ijtihaad and qiyas and we should not amalgamate these under the canopy of good and bad biddats.

Also Quran Khuwani for the deceased one, "parh kar bakhshwana waghera" are also biddats. We can pray for the deceased and give sadqaat in his name. All other things are not the way of the prophet (pbuh).

Sab Khaanay Peenay Ke Bhaanay Hain.

Why not just tell people to recite Quran at their homes for deceased, give sadaqa to poor and needy people?

Khaatay Peetay Logon Ko Mazhab Ke Naam pe Khilaatay Hain.

"Aye Behan, Paanch Quran Khatam Huay thay mere Abbaa Kay Chaaliswayen mein. Aath (8) Degayan Pakki theen Zarday Biryaani Ki . Dooor dooor se Log Aaye."
