Re: chalaak and taiz vs 'simple'

every desi girl considers herslef seedhi...

Bush went to Yale. What's your point?

Re: chalaak and taiz vs 'simple'

^and now he'll go to JAYLE.

No? :(

Thats not his fault, its you stupido americans who voted him in. duhhhhh!!! So with americans it doesnt matter what university they went to, the entire country is a university of ******* .heheh.....

Re: chalaak and taiz vs 'simple'

I have a hard time believing u went to school let alone got a masters.

Re: chalaak and taiz vs 'simple'

Chalak and taiz are adjectives used to describe a bahu or even a saas that has a backbone.

Simple would be a girl who simply cant do that.

Ooooh, I like that! And it's better to be chalak/taiz than naive/stupid! This world is a tough place to survive for the naive. You need courage and WITS/INTELLIGENCE to combat a monster-in-law (MIL) and Snitch-in-law (SIL). LOOOOL!

Getting a masters means i am academically qualified in a certain area. I know the most educated people in the world who have the most narrow minded and pathetically ignorant way of talking/thinking. Why do you correlate the two. I dont care wheter you believe me or not because im not on this gup to prove myself and neither am i here for a job interview. And a remark like yours coming from a moderater is really below the belt. But anyways i spend most of my time with non-pakistani folk because i live in such a area. and this forum just shows how juvenile and silly some people can be, especially when i said no such thing to you personally sara, being a moderater you shouldnt be making remarks that could be interpreted as an insult. i dnt see the difference between you or the rest of the claptrap then.

Anyways i choose to ignore many remarks, but coming from a mod, was something i didtne xpect. but maybe thats the way 21st century pakistanis are.....i guess my ignorance was right!

but I AM Sara... ! hehe

Re: chalaak and taiz vs ‘simple’

AND you get my point. :k:

Nadz,

I think Sara made that comment in response to your comment about the entire of America being a university of ********. There are many guppies on this site, like myself, who reside in the US....and did not vote for Bush. Yes, Bush got elected again....and served a second term. That still blows my mind away....but there were many people who did not vote for him. After enduring Bush rule for 8 years and learning a lesson from his atrocious failures.....most of the US decided to vote for Obama. There are exceptions ......so it's not right to stereotype the entire population of a country. That's the problem with stereotypes.....they don't allow room for exceptions or individuality.

I'm sorry your first experience with posting on Gupshup yesterday was not very positive. You encountered rude, immature, and uncalled for comments from a couple of guppies who had no interest in helping or posting constructive advice.
But, as I told you earlier, there are MANY guppies here who are very caring and helpful. You are also a Pakistani who is living in the 21st century. There are **all kinds of people from every race **living in this century. Some are rude. Some are nice. Some, like most people, are a mixture of both.

When one makes a stereotypical comment....(whether one is a regular guppy or a moderator).......it will bring about defensive retorts from others....because such comments leave little room for positive exceptions. I hope you'll soon discover that there are many friendly people on GS. Best wishes:)

i dnt mind being ignorant, i have no such qualms. Although how people can be so personally insulting is beyond me. if i generalised to americans, well helloo…i undersatand not everyone voted for him, but majority did, and thats how he won.So when a general election takes place, you have to generalise.
Any amount of respect i had for you as a mod, has kicked the kerb.

i generalised to americans, i didnt say anything personal to you as sara,

Although i have alot of that for redvelvet for never hitting below the belt, even if i have! and i admire that. Thankyou redv. your probably the only one here thats given me the impression maybe my stereotyping of americans is wrong. Your one, and your lovely i must say. so thats 1 down, but still another 100 odd million that fit my steretype…hmmmmm

Re: chalaak and taiz vs 'simple'

^ listen to the velvet that is red. she is smart and gets it all and explains it well to whomever wants to listen.

welcome and enjoy your stay.

shes great, yes..

and thanks, il try to enjoy it. But it doesnt bother me enough.

And i apologise if anything offensive was said, i am merely defending an attack.

c ya xxx

Re: chalaak and taiz vs 'simple'

Thanks, girls. But I'm like everyone else and make mistakes too. I've made my share of thoughtless blunders on GS as well, lol. As long as one learns from the mistakes :)

Re: chalaak and taiz vs 'simple'

It doesn't matter! Bottom line: desi people LOVE to categorize you- and this is just one of the ways females are portrayed to be conniving no matter how genuine your intentions may be! True story: I was visiting my extended family after x number of years and I was super excited to be seeing them and thus my entire stay there was warm and nice and I adapted myself really well to ...certain lack of luxuries, etc and didnt' complain or act spoiled. My last week there, one of my aunts told my cousin (who later told me) that she told her to be "cautious" of me because I was too nice and no one can be that nice and therefore I am "taiz" or "chalaak". Arggh!
In general, and this may exist in other communities, too, but has anyone noticed a strong association with female vs female insecurity in our community? We constantly feel a need to "compete" per se with other females and this ties into the coveted concepts of "izzat" and "sharam" yadda yadda. We've got to start respecting each other before we demand it from our male counterparts. Just my $0.02

so right.
