My white chai mugs now have brownish stains on the inside. I know this is my fault, because sometimes I leave them in the dishwasher for a day or 2, cause I only run the dishwasher once every 2 days.
How can I get rid of the stains?? I have tried scrubbing them by hand, and I left them in water and baking soda over night, but nothing.
rub baking soda paste onto the stained area, put the mugs in boiling water or fill them with boiling water and add washing powder.let it sit for 4-5 hours or over night.
lemon can also bleach out the stain so you can use lemon too with boiling water.
The stains that are old and tough take time to go away but they do go away depending on the material... are your cups pure china? if they hve a mix of melamine in them or not china , then chances are stains wont come off ..
But if they china , then after soaking them overnight ( as per the tips shared here ) dont forget to rub them for a bit with a sponge ... that is the only thing that will take them out ...
Good luck

I find filling the cups 1/3 of the way with vingar, adding some bicarb soda and topping with hot water and leaving them to soak does the trick. You then just wash as normal.
Otherwise take a dishwasher tablet, place it in the cup, and top with boilling water, then removet he tablet and wash as normal. You can use the same tablet for 3/4 cups before it totally disintergrates.
A tablespoon of chlorine bleach in a liter or so of water will do it, soak 'em overnight in this or with this solution sitting in the cups. You can tell from my nick I'm an expert. ;)
Depending on how old the stain is .. ( fresh ones are pretty easy to remove )
If its an old stain ... then see if you can arrange a steam dispenser ... steam the stain area well ... then apply some vinegar or strong detergent to the spot and let it be for a good 10-15 minutes .. then rub it with a warm cloth to get the detergent out and finally steam it all once again ...
I once saw a friend take out coffee stains by using her husbands shaving foam ... I dunno why, but it seemed to have worked well on the off white carpet ...

that reminds me of one of my friend from the university who had the same philosophy for his underwear. 6 months straight, no wash, no change. After 6 months, buy a new one ..
He once slipped from his motorcycle and had bruises all over his legs. We were behind him in a car. We all rushed him to an emergency. First thing doctor did was remove his pants. I still remember the shocking expression on doctors face when he looked at his undies .. :D
