Re: Chai menu

Its all up to you. Firstly you need to decide how many things you want on the table? Then you need to decide the ratio of sweet and sour/namkeen.

You got some really cool ideas in the above posts. =)

Re: Chai menu

Do a mixture of sweet and savoury. Examples can include:

Finger sandwiches, stuffed pastries (such as samosay, patties, etc), chaat.

Baked goods (cookies, cake, tarts, pastries) or fruit salad.

Re: Chai menu

I always have frozen hors d'oeuvres in the freezer, you can either make them yourself or get them from any grocery store. I find it easy to just pop them in the oven for 10 minutes and voila !

Re: Chai menu

Samosas, various types of pakoras, desi style sandwiches, mini quiches etc

And of course a delicious platter of fresh cream cakes and pastries :D

Re: Chai menu

sandwiches,fruit cake/pastries,biscuits/cookies,kababs/cutlets/nuggets,patties/rolls,pineapple/fruit cocktail.......

Re: Chai menu

thanks guys.

At my mum's place we used to serve samosa, chaat, biscuits, cake, dry fruit and stuff like that.

Its been ages I moved out and forgot all about it. At my in-laws they only serve chai with dry fruit / dry snacks.

Its good to note down all this and I am planning to buy readymade stuff like samose and kebab and put it in the freezer for the baby visits in the summer.

I am a bit early I know but I would rather plan it now and do the shopping while I am still a bit up and running before the due date in june...hehehe

Re: Chai menu

if this chai is for family visiting to see the new baby...chill
life is gonna get tougher so just serve a simple chai of one nakeen and one sweet as mithai tho chalayga...
above teas are for get togethers when you wanna have fun,but at this time you will be tired so keep it simple
good luck and good health...

Re: Chai menu

I bake the samosas in the oven. put some oil on both sides and put them in the oven so its really easy and healthy samose..
the rest will be dry stuff anyways and hubby and mum will take care of it so I am not worried about the work load:) but thanks:)

Re: Chai menu

So went to a chai over the weekend I don't if it was technically a chai but we had to go see a girl for a ristha and they served us...sweet pastries, veggie spring rolls, somosas, and a channa chaat. with soda no chai cause we don't drink chai but they did, we just sipped on soda. i'm remembering the chutney, damn was my mouth on fire after that.

Re: Chai menu

We had guest for tea this evening and our menu was: samosay, spinach cheese empanads, chicken nugests, fruit compote, ice cream, pastries, dry mix fruit, cookies, casserole, and pizza. It was a nice variety of different kind of dishes and they enjoyed all the variety.

Re: Chai menu

Do you girls mind inviting poor guppies at your home for such tea parties

Re: Chai menu

Spread Tostitos in a wide microwave-safe tray. Spread some salsa over all of the tostitos, sprinkle shredded cheese and put in microwave for 40sec-60sec.

Goes really well with Tea and have wonderful texture/presentation too...
