Chaand Raat is a time of celebration when families and friends gather in open areas at the end of the last day of Ramadan to spot the new moon, which signals the arrival of the Islamic month of Shawwal and the day of Eid.
Once the moon is sighted, people wish each other Chaand Raat Mubarak (“Have a blessed night of the new moon”) or Eid Mubarak (“Blessings of the Eid day”). Women and girls decorate their hands with mehndi (henna), and people prepare desserts for the next day of Eid and do the last round of shopping.
These are the usual traditions mostly people follow in Pakistan. Now what are you guys doing on chand raat, or what do you usually do ?
Before marriage - meet up with friends and go shopping / mehndi / worry about nail polish color - if that would match the dress, worry about hair color, compete who will wear highest heels...:p
After marriage: Forget those nails - you just grab the cleaners and spot clean your place, prepare eid snacks, prepare biryani, get clothes ready for kids, get them ready, sleep late but wake up early for eid prayers :)

We call our family and wish them Eid Mubarak. Last Eid, my wife found out a place where the community was celebrating the Chand Raat, mainly ladies were going for chooriyaan and Mehndi, so we took our daughters there.
Begum also put together what she needs for the morning cooking. We usuallay go to bed at normal time, first there is nothing much to do, second it takes time to get ready for eid prayers so we want to wake up fresh
Well when we all are at home, my parents mostly gve us duas, at home I am the only one who likes mehndi so my mehndi doesn't comes untill last. Basically we just get our clothes ready for namaz, my mom calls everyone in the family and we just sit around and listen to the convo. That is pretty much it.
I usually get my clothes ready for Eid, buy chhooriyan and make my room and rest of the home tidy. Make phone calls to all of my friends to wish Eid and chand raat. Sometimes i text to few ones. then after fulfilling all of my duties I put mehndi on my maid’s hands and on my own hands, it takes 3 to 4 hours
