Certificate of US Naturalization

Hey everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has applied for N-600 for themselves or a family member? I was just wondering if one needs to go to the INS office to receive the certificate or is it something they just mail to you?

Thanks!

Re: Certificate of US Naturalization

I am pretty sure they mail it to you after your interview and oath.

Re: Certificate of US Naturalization

noooo... i think you have to go in sing the national anthem... and then they let u sign the paper work.

Yes that would be the oath ceremony.

May be that's when you get the certificate.

Wait don't the actually have you come in do the oath, and mail you the certificate later... hmm I personally think they get some sort of pleasure in seeing foreigners sing in english... after all who wouldnt like to see F.E.S. sing????

Re: Certificate of US Naturalization

This is my experience .. You go in for interview .. at the end of it, they ask if you want to use the same photographs that you submitted with N400 or you want to give new photographs.

then they give you a date to show up for Oath ceremony (usually in a week or so). after the oath ceremony, they call you up front, one person at a time, and hand you your Naturalization Certificate

Re: Certificate of US Naturalization

Thanks everyone, but I am actually talking about N-600 which is different from N-400. N-600 is to get a certificate of citizenship for child of a US citizen parent. Has anyone applied for that?

I just spoke to someone who did this a few years back. You can mail in the form plus the amount of money required. You get an approval letter once they receive and process your application and also an interview date where the parent applying for the citizenship has to bring in the child it's applied for. They give you the certificate right there on the day of interview.

Just make sure the form is filled correctly and the right amount of money is sent or they send the form back.

Re: Certificate of US Naturalization

Oh btw this whole process can take anywhere from 6 months to a year after sending in the initial application.

Thanks! I appreciate it. :)

true- but for a child of a citizen you have to mail the money then they send the certificate in mail. no need to go for the oath cermony

Re: Certificate of US Naturalization

^ Are you sure? How do you know that? Did you apply for a child or know someone who did?

Once you submit the application, you will receive a letter giving u the location, date and time on which u can pickup the certificate. Thats how i got mine!

Great. Thanks!

How long ago was that and how long your process took?

Re: Certificate of US Naturalization

I have worked as a citizenship coordinator and the N-600 process usually took 5-7 mons. They do specify in the instructions that it can take upto an year.
Mostly people received letters specifying date and time when they would have to go with their child to pick up the certificate.
Just make sure that you send all the required materials like copies of birthcertificate, green card,etc....
